New Grand Campaigns

Post by ineffable »

Unless I miss my guess, new Grand campaigns can be created solely by editing the -

# Default Forces Allied
# Default Forces Axis

- in the 11 operation.txt files in \Close Combat The Bloody First\Campaigns\MAIN\DATA\OPERATIONS

The Default Forces values are:

US BGs
Rifle Company42 0
Rifle Company43 1
Rifle Company44 2
Parachute Company42 3
Parachute Company44 4
Armored Infantry Company42 5
Armored Infantry Company43 6

Compagnia Costerio 54

I believe I just created an entire Fallschirmjagerkompanie '43 campaign in under 60 seconds using the stock deploy, fire support, objectives in the Battle files. These can be easily modified in the Editor for a custom campaign using the stock battle sequence. That too can be customized but it starts getting trickier to do.

Install/uninstall directions in the attached FJcampaign readme.

New FJCampaign

Post by ineffable »

The FJ campaign new default force axis co. is an FJ '43. US forces have been randomized to combine a basic infantry co (0, 1, 2) + one of the other 6 types of main force co. FJcamp uses the stock timeline and battle sequence from Tunisia-Normandy. Deployment and support units are stock. Support missions are not. (You've been warned and will be surprised!)

The Battles tab singletons are populated with new main forces for both sides.

And single battles might be susceptible to the 00:01 save spoof for a second round on the same map with incurred casualties. This makes it possible to Save again at xx:59 to keep those depleted units in the main force with a custom deploy. This bug/feature should be used when Hasty Attack is chosen. Both sides go back to battle exactly where the last one left off.

Stock single battles are also suceptible to the 00:01 Save spoof allowing two battles for the prices of one. Neat thing is units retain casualties unless swapped out of the Main Force. In the second battle some units get deployed to almost the same positions they last occupied in the first battle.

Some bugs are tasty.

I updated the FJ '43 campaign attached above with custom deployments and somewhat randomized US main forces.
