7 degrees of Save

Post by ineffable »

The scenario files on the custom battles tab are Saved games, with only the battle parameters stored.

Deploy phase saves are scenarios with a custom friendly force pre-selected.

Start saves elapse 1 second, a custom deployment is pre-selected.

Mid-battle saves cut straight to the crescendo of battle.

Two minute warning saves let you fight only the often crucial end game.

Last second saves spoof the game into making the scenario a a 2 battle op.

Backing out of Debrief during ops creates an auto-save which re-starts with a review of the previous battle's Debrief results.

A nice, new feature.

Thanks for that. Here is a newb question. I created a scenario with the bridge map (meant to play the Axis and have AI Allies attack) and gave Allies the required victory location and a couple more right at the crossings. The rest were Axis VLs. Anyway, the Allies with a pretty strong force just stood their ground. Is there a better way to make them attack?

Thanks again.

Not sure which bridge map youre refering to. Attache a zip of the scenario. Did you set the battle's initiative to Allies attack in the editor? I give the AI a few deploy zones where I want it to start, then use the Fog of War Neutral_Map_Control file mod to hide the AI's deploy zones from the player. To the player it looks as if the enemy might be anywhere outside the zone's he controls. The old classic CC trick of stacking VLs atop each other, so their value was 4 or more, doesnt work. All the objective values seem to be 2 (secondary) in the Battle files so Im guessing objectives are all treated equally by the AI.

It was the Brecey map, and yes I did make it "allies attack." I need to bang out a few more scenarios before I consider this an issue, though. That is a good trick on the deploy zones.

The scenario editor is easy-to-use but is probably a blunt instrument compared to what a modder can do with the files. So the best scenarios will likely come from the modders!
