Is Iron working as intended or bugged

Post by murdock762 »

Im still not clear how iron is supposed to work.

I am playing as Axis mid 1942 - Italian production is around 85/86.

When I trade my iron away I see the production of the other nation jump up. However production for Italy is 85 regardless if they are trading iron away or not.

Is this what is intended? Iron is a resource that adds to production if traded but is lost if not traded? Or is their something happening behind the scenes but not showing on the production screen?

I have been carefully looking at production for all the nations with and without trading and I cant make sense of this

They are producing 85 but their stockpile is what they have. So you see the difference in stockpile.

OK it is very unclear to me how iron works.

As I said Italy in 1942. I show production of 85 and have 21 iron to trade. So is my production 64 + the 21 iron for 85 total, or is it 85 production + the 21 iron for 106? I have tried tracking my production when iron is being traded and when it is not - and it seems to be unchanged but maybe I am reading things wrong. I am looking at both the production as indicated, as well as the turn over turn change to the stockpile. (which I understand is also effected by purchases as well as repairs)

Wanted to add I really like the game and am having a ton of fun playing it. I am not trying to be difficult, it is only because I like the game that I am try to understand this and want to make sure everything is working as intended.

As I said it feels like when I do trade iron to minors it shows up in thier production total - but when I am not trading it away it is "lost" or not accounted for but again maybe I am misread the tables.

There is just production and oil. The iron ore is a resource that represents an area of production that is not urban or a supply source.

Basically add all production sources, apply economic multiple, reduce for upkeep (repair/upgrade), the remainder is added to the previous turn stockpile.

No you are not being difficult.

Any rail transferred imports are not shown on the convoy. They are just added to the production. Only transfers that go over convoy are shown. Like captured French production isn't shown. But the resource from Norway would be in Germany.
