Never was a huge fan of this game... until today

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Never was a huge fan of this game... until today

Post by crazydave1066 »

Guys: I've had this game for years. I have played it on and off, but never have really gotten into it or understood it. After playing a few different Gary Grigsby games, I finally felt prepared to tackle this beast. I started up the Road to Leningrad scenario, you know, something simple and OHMYGOD next thing I know its been 7 hours. I played as the Axis powers and lost, yes, but it was a Soviet minor victory. I take this as a win, because this was my first game attempting encirclement, messing around with the command structure, and repairing and using the railroads. My troops were on the outskirts of Leningrad on the last turn, but unfortunately I wasn't keeping track of the turn count and was surprised with the Soviet minor victory screen. Anyways, I have never been that absorbed in a wargame, even in WITP: AE, which I consider to be my favorite wargame due to the setting (I love studying the Pacific Theater). Just wanted to share my joy. Thanks for reading.

welcome to the addiction! lol! This game is like a maze, hard to get on the ball, but if you like the journey at least as much as the destination, you are in for quite a threat.

Thats awesome to hear!! Its a great game. there is a lot to learn, but totally worth it.

When I started to learn this game I found road to Minsk a good scenario to learn from. That where you learn how to create a pocket and advance from there.

If u like watching youtube videos to figure out games MarauderPL is by far the best one to learn the basics from. Most other youtubers I have watch dont have a great understanding of the game.

Great to see you into the game. Probably no one will even master it all in a lifetime, but the journey trying to get there is worth every minute!
