Flaviusx v. Sapper 2229
RE: Flaviusx v. Sapper 2229
Am not persuaded by the Axis strategy here, will see how things pan out but I think the Allies have the advantage.
What are Axis going to do in '41, if they launch Barbarossa it will be with reduced strength because of the need to hold forces in the UK. They can't have the Luftwaffe in both places.
Maybe they are going for the ignore Russia game, don't know how that works but should get some idea soon from my game with MM.
Would agree that UK production is too low early game. Maybe their balance of effectiveness isn't right either, so the RAF and RN did really well during the war but the Army was rather mediocre.
On the other hand I think it is wrong that US production increases when the UK is doing badly, for two reasons:
- From an historical perspective the USA would have been less likely to intervene if the UK were out of action (unless of course Hitler declared war on them).
- From a game perspective it just makes an Axis strategy of attacking the UK less viable, and so makes the game more linear and less interesting.

The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !

Dec 6, 1940. After two clear weather turns in a row during winter, the British decide to retreat towards the Midlands.
In the med, the Italian have Algiers beseiged but cannot seem to dislodge the unit. A single German unit is in Albania. He's running out of time to knock out Greece here and keep Yugoslavia and the entire luftwaffe is still parked in France.
US war entry increases to 65.

Down the road this could all very well blow up for the Axis. He needed a coup de main in the UK and did not get it. So, to that extent, I guess my preparations for Sea Lion paid off. I couldn't stop it. But I could make it a hard and drawn out affair.

Ok what are the odds of 4 clear turns in a row during winter? This is ridiculous.

Between the lucky 2-1 attack on London and this 4 turns of clear weather in Britain from late November to January 41, my opponent is certainly getting the breaks in this game.

Let's just say that I am suspicious that this is on the up and up.

Sorry to see this, was this on the server? Hate to think someone could mess with a game like that.
Did you check with Alvaro about this? Perhaps something got changed by mistake in the latest patch that is messing with or stopping weather rolls.

RE: Flaviusx v. Sapper 2229
clear weather turns do oddly happen ive seen it quite a bit now in my solo games.
RE: Flaviusx v. Sapper 2229
It was on the server. I think there was some reload action going on here. No way in hell do you get 5 clear weather turns in a row like that. I have never seen this. It's like winning the lottery. And, frankly, I am suspicious of how London went down, too. That was super lucky.
I've sent some PMs but at any rate, I'm done with this match.

5 in a row?
We are talking all of November, December, and half of January here.
I have never seen such a stretch of clear weather in this game.

RE: Flaviusx v. Sapper 2229
I've seen cold weather 2 or 3 turns in Winter(I was completely shocked)... So far ever... In many of my games I seen none. (if I had to guess it's 10-20% chance per turn depending on region and month)
RE: Flaviusx v. Sapper 2229
ive had it for atliest 3 turns in december / january before during barbarossa.
2 turns in november probably happens in 25-50% of my single play games for some reason.
I dont know if reloading a turn can affect the weather outcome never tried it.

Look at the table. Get a dice and try to replicate the results. I think you might be rolling dice for weeks to get 5 clear in a row in winter.
RE: Flaviusx v. Sapper 2229
Well Alvaro says the weather rolls are done at the start of the Axis turn. Big design error there. The rolls should be done at the end of the allied turn and remain unknown to both players until the start of the Axis turn.
RE: Flaviusx v. Sapper 2229
Alvaro says done at start of axis turn.
he also says the weather rolls are unchangeable on axis turn reload to make sure noone could roll different weather.
I checked it and tested the weather rolls, not changeable in multi.
Flavius did you join someone elses game? for new versions alvaro is going to put in a original scenario or not warning in output log.

I have a new game with Tyronec.
I remain skeptical that the weather results in this game were legit along with some of the combat results. Far too many lucky breaks at the right time and place.
Once is chance, twice coincidence, three or more times is enemy action.

Well, Alvaro posted that the weather is rolled between the end of Allied turn and start of Axis - so that has to have been a streak of super luck!
