Allied cooperation

British, Americans and Canadians fully cooperate, as do Germans, Italians and Axis Allies, right? Their fighters should escort each other's bombers? Their ships work together harmoniously?

Are there any ways in which allied do NOT cooperate? For example, will French fighters escort British aircraft?
