Naval Air Interdiction combat result

Post by tyronec »

Can anyone explain this combat.
I am Axis, it came up as one of the combats on the log at the beginning of my turn.
Div Drago is an Italian bomber. But they didn't take 8 losses as they were 19/20 at the start of my turn.
The German fighter may have taken 1 loss.
Naval Air 1 could refer to the Drago unit, they are Naval Air.

But what were the British losses ?
What was engaged in the combat from their side ?

With sweet, mellifluous sounds.

The second number is just the recap - you suffered 5 Air losses total, 4 to the Italian Bomber and 1 to their Escort.

British must have had carriers in the task force; and since they automatically and freely regenerate their air component, their losses are not accounted for. That's how CV works and I already underlined that in other threads. Fear the might of the infinite carrierborne Gloster Gladiator waves mincing through your Bf109 escorts and their protected bombers!

If that is the explanation then how come Div Drago had strength 19 at the start of my move ?
9 losses would be quite a hammering for interdicting a carrier fleet !

IF it started full strenght I take that it suffered 4 losses, down to 16, and then only could repair 3 at the start of your turn due to economical constraints / other units receiving replacements / upgrades.

You took 5 losses total, not 9.
The 2nd four is just a recap.

Since anyhow the max an air unit can repair per turn is 4.

Next time you get a message like this look in the logs. Also detail what the situation was?

Did you intercept?
Did you fly a mission?
vs A.I. or human?
What hex was the combat?
vs who was the combat?
etc.

My guess is that this is an interception.

It was a Naval Air Interdiction - that is what it shows on the screen print that is uploaded.
It showed up in the Combat Log when I started my turn.
HvH game.
I don't have any more information.

I think it shows 9 Axis losses, 5 in A2A and another 4 for the Naval strike, but that doesn't add up with the state of the naval bomber at the start of my turn.

And what does naval Air:1 mean, why is the '1' not yellow ?

That might be air vs carrier. That is a rare occasion. I'd message the opponent and ask if that's what his fleet was. I'll take a look.

I know he had carriers around.
The game is tyronec vs magicmissile, maybe he can comment if he saw anything from his side.

Ok I figured out what happened. You scored ZERO hits on the fleet so it didnt report any ships being hit period. That's why it looks weird. This was a carrier fleet and you killed 1 CV aircraft but lost a bunch of planes to AA it seems and CV air power.

I put in a message that when you score nothing it reads

No damaging hits were scored on enemy fleet

So it is more clear.
