NEW Skacee's graphics mod

Post by Skacee »

Hello dear players,

I have finished my christmas gift for the WITPAE community. New graphics for the game.

Here is Skacees WITPAE mod site for the original graphic mod of War in the Pacific AE game.

I hope you will enjoy it.

It is in test phase, so please feel free to ask whatever you need, i will be available for some time to work on it and improve it.

Some nice stuff here. I REALLY like the colored icons in the Base Information screen!

Added ChemKid TopPoMap adjusted for the skin + some minimap changes. Testing it with the ChemKid maps now and it looks really cool.

I am probably doing something wrong...but the two files on your web page seem to be map files only. Are there other Art files? Have they gone missing or am I not looking in the right place?

Thanks.

Top marks - much easier on the eyes, and I think the change to the background screens adds a lot.

Very appreciative of the ergonomics of the LCU counters now, and a bit more colour around the various screens is very refreshing.

Feels almost like a new game!

Ok I had a look and some aspects I really like but others I don't - personal taste etc etc.

What I do like are the unit and base information screens which I find significantly easier to read. Is it possible to just use them and not the loading screens or the maps? I think logically it should be so if it is could you possibly just package that part up as a separate download?

Appreciate your work on all this.

Yes, I did, because I also prefer some graphics of the original ART folder. I copied the original ART files as a backup, unzipped the files of Skacee in to the ART folder and then replaced some of Skacees files I didn't want by the respective original files. For example the map files are named WPEH00 and so on. So if you want to keep your original map files either don't copy Skacee's map files into the ART folder or replace them by your old ones if you unzipped all of Skacee's files into your ART folder. In your Explorer you have to select that mode which shows you the graphics, when you click on a file, so you can choose which file to keep.
It is no problem to use a mix of files.

Ok thanks for the confirmation. For people who are confident on selecting individual files that is great info. For others perhaps a series of separate downloads that offers only certain aspects would be good. That way a player could 'pick and mix'

I am glad someone raised that question - i had this options already in plan and waiting for response from community. As there could be some changes and splitting files into different groups will need some time.

I will do it for mixing, because it could save people time, and gives some comfort. And not everybody is familiar with tinkering of graphics files.

I did this mod more to my liking, as I am returning to this game and i dont like much the old style GUI and I completely understand that people could have different likes. Anyway, mod works best esthetically with all included and there will be some compromise not to use all.

If anyone needs some changes etc pls write here i will consider it.

Just for now i could split it into separate groups - pls check it.
Complet mod without map,
maps,
opening screens,
main setup menu in the beginning,
top and bottom background ribbon for different monitor resolutions,
in game menus screens bck,
report screens bck,
map unit icons,
combat animations bck,
ground/mission pics (not mine),
top Menu + misc. GUI buttons.

I like the 'ribbon' coloured icons on the main map at the top and bottom. I also find the pop ups form the maps much easier on the eye than the standard ones.

Thank you for that,

it is repaired now (I didnt know the different changes and versions of Chemkid maps).
I have added another adjusted map (now it consists of the original map, Yamamoto map and TopPoMap map),
added requested split files for the ART directory. Hope it will work well and I wish you to have a good time!

A lot of work there and very helpful.

Could I suggest you put some sample images on the site so people can see the differences?

I have ended up downloading both map files to be able to see the different style.

its just the two maps are different styles, so at present I have downloaded both sets and then had a look at them - if there was a section from each on your site people could see which they preferred.

Could you please specify which kind of files from your website to replace? Is it "combat screens" and "on map icons"?
