Lazy programming,means an unfinshied product.
......this in a nutshell....GET RID OF THE DEFAULT TASK FORCE RETIREMENT OPTION OR....THIS GAME WILL END YOU!
Don't quite see how your title and comment match. As I see it, there are two possble options: set the task force retirement option on, or off, as the default. Selecting on as the default doesn't mean they are lazy programmers.Matt Erickson wrote:......this in a nutshell....GET RID OF THE DEFAULT TASK FORCE RETIREMENT OPTION OR....THIS GAME WILL END YOU!
Looks like you just got stung by not checking the task force settings in a game. Well, we all learn from our mistakes.

There are some serious issues to resolve in the next patch for UV. This one, IMHO, is not one of them.Matt Erickson wrote:......this in a nutshell....GET RID OF THE DEFAULT TASK FORCE RETIREMENT OPTION OR....THIS GAME WILL END YOU!

I dont think the next UV patch will appear before WitP is released. However at that point WitP patches may take priority of UV patches. Matrix has said they plan to go back and update UV with WitP release updates, but as Pasternaski has said, it may be optimistic thinking.

Make that 4 guaranteed sales. At this point I'll buy anything thay make.
The world has never seen a more impressive demonstration of the influence of sea power upon history. Those far distant, storm-beaten ships, upon which the Grand Army never looked, stood between it and the dominion of the world. -- Alfred Thayer Mahan
In other threads the 2 by 3 folks have implied that some other project (presumably UV-Med) has been taking time away from both WitP and UV patches. So who knows? UV Med might be less of a pipe dream than we think.Drex wrote:Unfortunately the next UV patch may be well in the future after WitP shows up and UV-Med is in the works.
UV Med
Does anybody remember the boardgame classic "Flat Top"? As far as I know its designer and producer tried to design a Med-add-on, but failed because it required a much more sophisticated land combat model than anything near what Flat Top could offer.
Ports changing sides, large scale land battles, etc... How can you seperate anything that went on in the Med-region from the African campaign?
I honestly do not believe in a possible adaption of UV without completely re-developing the game and engine.
Cheers,
Chris

The side project they are working on is not UV-Med, from my understanding. It is something of a completely different ilk from UV/WitP system stuff.

We're way off topic here...
O.
UV-Med is not a pipedream. One of the Matrix administrators came out sometime ago how UV-Med would be the project after WitP. He didn't say the only project however.jnier wrote:In other threads the 2 by 3 folks have implied that some other project (presumably UV-Med) has been taking time away from both WitP and UV patches. Yep. As the discussion went at the time, I got the sense that the land combat and overarching strategic and political matters were not seen by Matrix/2by3 as being that big of a challenge. Some abstraction and "out of the players' hands" resolution was seen to be necessary, to be sure, but the basic dynamic - naval and naval air forces fighting desperately to support a campaign that would be won or lost as a consequence of capture or failure to capture strategically significant land objectives - was identified as perfectly compatible with the UV system.Drex wrote:UV-Med is not a pipedream. I think that Matrix/2by3 (especially GG) have expressed a desire to fire their retros and break away from the gravitational pull of the UV/WitP black hole, but, in the fullness of time, look for "UV-Med" with a spiffier title and slick engine and graphics somewhere down the line ... unless Tristanjohn and others kill Gary's interest in continuing his foray back into WWII theater-level design. Remember that this was all dead territory like the lands facing Frodo and Sam in their (sorry, I can't leave out Sam) approach to Mordor until Matrix and 2by3 revitalized it. Without them, we would have nothing.
Let me repeat. Without them, we would have Pacific General - I mean - nothing.

Hi, I bought it, installed it, loaded it, looked at it, exited it, uninstalled it.
put the disc in a drawer.

I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!
I guess that makes me a Pacific General veteran. I played though half of one scenario before bagging it.Mogami wrote:Hi, I bought it, installed it, loaded it, looked at it, exited it, uninstalled it.
