Problem installing custom campaign

Post by El_Condoro »

I have created a link to a custom campaign (_Empire of the Eagle) and there seems to be an issue with installing it (at least with one person). The specific problem is that the campaign does not appear in the list for Hotseat or PBEM++.

I have it installed to \User\Documents\Strategic Command - World at War\Campaigns\_Empire of the Eagle on my PC and it works as it should.

However, in the manual it does not have the \campaigns folder mentioned (p.13).

Can it be confirmed where the installation should be and what might be causing this problem, please? I have seen a screenshot of the person's folder structure and it seems AOK.

Thanks.

Hi El Condoro,

Yes, the campaign file, as well as the subdirectory just need to be placed within the user folder for World at War (assuming it is a campaign for World at War):

\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\Campaigns

Hope this helps,
Hubert

Thanks. That is what the person has done - are there any permissions issues that need to be addressed, perhaps? The manual mentions running as Administrator.

No, and the only thing I can think of is perhaps he put a WaW campaign in his WiE user folder instead?

To confirm, it should look like this once installed:

\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\Campaigns\Empire of the Eagle.cgn (campaign file)

\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\Campaigns\_Empire of the Eagle (campaign sub folder)

He can also try creating his own custom campaign using the Editor, even just a 'Save As' of a default campaign, and look at how it is saved in the user folder and confirm that the custom campaign loads as expected. This will confirm that there are no special permissions needed etc.
