Happy Birthday to Singapore and New Zealand today! A British guy named Raffles set up a trading post at Singers in 1819 and NZ English signed an agreement with the Maori natives in 1840. Seems pretty recent to be founding significant communities, but I guess back then that was the far ends of the earth to Europeans.

I went to a government office today to get some paperwork done and there was no waiting . . .

I called one yesterday to try and set up an appointment. It was from an '800' number, and they told me there was a 40 minute wait. Tried to call the office directly and I was told (by recording) there was no local number to the office (really?).[:@]

The office is only 15 minutes from my house, and even closer when I babysit (tomorrow) my grandson. I take him with me.

With any luck, he'll be in a foul mood (rarely), just to piss them off for making me drive to the place.[:D]

P.S.
