I'm glad tank crews are back, missed them in SP3. After taking your crews through a long campaign you get to know them by name. You get mad if you loose them and you do all you can to get them out of a bad fix. I try to make sure I have recovery vehicles just for this purpose. In many games I've found myself as proud of the recovery effort in some very nasty situations as anything else and very often not once but many times. I wish there was a reward for the non-combat type elements for service above and beyond. I'd be happy with a cheap medal.
I'll admit to liking to play the defender more often then not. In a long campaign it would be great to be able to pick the types of battles you'd like to play.
And I want a big huge humungous fan to blow the smoke away. ~
Campaigns are addictive. You are right. You do get attached to the crews and tank forces.
I remember well a platoon of M-48s in my Black Beret Campaign in SP3 (Arab Israeli War, 1967.
In the fourth battle, in running gun fights with marauding Egyptian forces in a pitched night battle, they did well until they were ambushed by a much large Egyptian tank force.
They fought bravely but all died in that battle. I felt the loss very deeply. They had served me well.
Campaigns will do that to you...WB
