I've just received a GAM file. Anyone know what I do with that? I normally receive a zipped file that unzips into the saved game folder. However this unzipped GAM thingy has me stumped. I've asked my Axis colleague to re-send zipped but it may be quicker if someone points me in the right direction...

Copy or cut the file and paste it into save game folder. If you download the file, it most likely goes to download folder where you can copy or cut it.

I think this is the standard path:

C:\Matrix Games\World in Flames\Scenarios\Global War\Saved Games
If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush.

No that wouldn't work - but I've managed to find it in something called a downloads folder - and from there I could transfer to the Saved Game file without copy and paste (which it wouldn't let me!) - thanks though Mayhemizer.

It is just the unzipped save file that is named <savename>.GAM. Usually the .GAM part of the name is hidden in the map where the saves are locate and just <savename> is shown.

Just save the .GAM file to your normal save folder and you can then load the save.

Edit: Already solved. [:)]

The set up is pretty conventional too. No seeking to re-invent the wheel.

U-boats in Kiel, the navy in Stettin, the army and airforce go large in Poland and a screening force in the west.

Question from a PBEM-noob. Should all die-rolls be run by a outsourced diegenerator?
I assumed the CW would align Poland so I moved ahead and there is a US-entry roll associated with the declaration of war and now I need to know if the dieroll stands.

Edit: I realized that I need to back up if this is how we should do it but it does no harm there are no rolls in between.

The only rolls I don't do are for the neutrality markers as I've no idea what that is all about so I can't cheat even if I wanted to. Everything else needs to go through the roller. Remember to copy all four players in (I click both to e-mail and on-screen for ease).

And that is me done for the night.

Managed to do my first online die-roll I think. Managed to name it US declaration of war against Poland but I think my co-grognards get what I meant [:D]

The dieroll for the German declaration of war against Poland (US entry action #32) is 12, meaning the roll needs to be 2 or less to generate two chits. As seen below the roll narrowly missed and just 1 chit was generated to the Ge/IT US entry pool.

Image

I went with a rather conservative Polish set-up I think and now the war has officially started!

Question: there is a roll for the US-entry chit but I did not understand how to roll for it so I just went with what the game gave us. Correct or not?

Hi JP going forward can you explain what the roll means in order to let any readers of the thread - including the other players - know what has happened please (obviously not the value of the chit which is none of the Axis business [:)])

My understanding is that a a 3 is rolled there is one chit added to the pool. A 1 or 2 would have meant a second as the Polish value is 12.

Also in future can you post the game back to both players - the Japanese have decisions to make this impulse too (I've sent WILHELM the current impulse so no need to take action currently). Thanks.

Is this a known bug? I've never used the 2D10 Land CRT before but when I've gone into Help and clicked on it, the whole game simply disappears. Just goes..... WTH?

No problem, will do.
How about the question on randomizing the US-entrychit? It is a roll but I do not understand how to make the roll, it think the roll was something 3 or 4 digit.

Rail Movement: None
Land Movement:
Germany

The German forces move on Warsaw, Poznan and the forest north of Katowice. An infantry corps clears the corridor and Danzig falls. They catch the Polish navy in port (4 and 3 thrown) and the Poles scuttle all ships in the harbour to avoid capture. So much for Operation Peking....

Italy

A couple of positional changes made along the Franco/Italian border

Japan

18th Inf moves west towards city Yenan. 12th Inf moves south towards HQ Mao. HQ Yamamoto moves west along the railroad.

Land Combat:
Germany

There are two attacks announced:

Poznan at +21
Forest north of Katowice at +20

No aircraft or HQ Support

I assume Assault table on Poznan and I chose Blitz in the Forest.

Air Rebase:
Italy

A Falco moves to Genoa

Sep/Oct 1939 Impulse: 2 (Allies)

Declarations of War and Alignments:
CW/France declared war on Germany (US-entry #24 -12) and managed to roll a 3 luckily. Still 3 chits in the US-entrypool. CW, France and Germany called out their reserves. Below is Franco-German border after reserves has been called out.

Image

CW: Naval
France: Combined
Russia: Combined
China: Land
US: Pass

Port Attack: None

Naval Air: CW sends out a bomber to protect convoys in the Bay of Biscay

Naval Movement:
CW moves out of port to protect their convoys in Bay of Biscay, North Atlantic and Cape of St. Vincent. The Brits also moves units towards Egypt and the BEF to help out in the defense of France. The pacific fleet sails out in the eastern Med to protect the transports while the fleet in Gibraltar lies ready to react to an Italian declaration of war.

France transports a Syrian INF back to the motherland.

Strategic Bombing: France flies the Amiot to bomb Stuttgart (extended range) to no success.
Image

Ground Strike: None

Rail Movement: None

Land Movement:
USSR: The Russian cavalry stationed in Minsk moves into Vilna to claim Eastern Poland (US Entry action #26 roll 7 or less). The US takes notice and condemns the move (rolled 2) and the units stays in Vilna instead of continuing into Lithuania.
Image

The Communists in China scramble their lines to protect against the Japanese aggression. The Lanchow Militia is unfortunatly disorganised as it moves to Yenan.

China: See Ronnie post below

France:
France moves the Syrian INF towards Vichy and strengthens the defensive line west of the Maginot.

Land Combat: None

Air Rebase:
