When I tried a dummy attack on Denmark there was no US Entry throw. I am also getting a weird message about SLY files....

Image

Another message then pops up that says "Since the SLY file stored within the saved game file was not found, the program will use New Game.SLY, and if that file is not found, the program will create it".

Never seen this before any ideas?

Okay I tried again - this time declaring war on France also - and this time it worked....

You can ignore it.

Jesper has customized his map views to fit his 2 monitors. You do not have that customization file so the program just use the normal one instead. Should look just like normal for you.

When I tried a dummy attack on Denmark there was no US Entry throw.

You most likely only marked Denmark and clicked 'OK - Done'. However, 'OK - Done' just advances to the next step. You forgot to click on the DOW button before advancing. The one that actually executes the DOW. [:)]

Or so I suspect. I've done that error a few times. [:D]

Declarations of War and Alignments:
Italy

Italy declare war on the French and Commonwealth

Germany

Germany does the same against Denmark

The throws are 6 and 6 meaning 1 chit is added to the pool (I wasn't sure if CW was separate and threw an extra dice in case req'd)

The Italian reserves are called out and the two un-named units go to Genoa.

I align Denmark to the CW. Where do the Allies want the ships? To move the game along I go with the 'standard' maximum 4 x CP in Iceland and the remaining ships in Fredrikshaven. Let me know if you wanted something different.

Japan - Land
Germany - Land
Italy - Combined

Port Attack: None
Naval Air:
Italy

A flying boat heads for the 4-section of the Western Mediterranean

Naval Movement:
Italy

A small, seven-ship fleet puts to sea and takes up position in the Western Mediterranean 4-box.

I thought that Denmark could have 5 CPs in Iceland.

I tried leaving just the two SCS in port and it told me I needed one more ship (or 2 CP).

Yes. But try to split those 2 CPs and place one of them in Iceland.

6 CPs = 3 ships.

Denmark then has 5 ships. Half of that is 2.5 ships and that is 5 CPs.

Edit. And 2 SCS + 1 CP = 2.5 ships.

Ground Strike: None

Japan

A Korean TERR heads for Suchow

Land Movement:
Italy

Graziani and the 1st Infantry Division are ordered to the coast.

Germany

Germany starts to move its armour west, starting with two panzer corps.

The 2nd Infantry Division and XI Motorised Corps subdue Denmark but can't get to the navy before they flee for the UK. A merchant point is destroyed however. Where do the Danish ships flee to? To move the game on I send them to Plymouth where they can access the North Sea and BoB and are stacked with others.

The Mountain Corps takes the coal fields in Lower Silesia, while von Bock has had enough of Poland and heads for the flesh pots of Berlin. The remaining troops crowd Lodz.

Japan

Over to WILHELM for the Japanese moves

I am completely confused. How can the Allies have 6 surprise points on an impulse where they were surprised?
I thought I knew how to play this game....

I just saw the surprise points and the fact my opponent threw a 1 and.... is that wrong? I'll check an auto save of the game.

Ohhh I say, you are right. The form is light green!!

I'll re-do. Thank-you. I'm having a bad evening what with the Danish CP and now this....

Great find. [&o] [&o] [&o] They didn't have that obviously.

It was 6 Axis surprise points. And the Italians who avoided combat.

4 box +1 for naval bomber +1 for the Allied roll gives Axis 6 surprise points. Since nothing is reduced because of the surprise.

And Italy finds on a 6 as well. [:)]

Edit: Italy finds on a 6 because they are in the 4 box +1 for naval bomber +1 for enemy CP.
