[NOT CMO ISSUE] Tacview gives nautical speeds in Mach

Post by c3k »

See the pix.

In this particular example (there are many other situations), the torpedoes are shown as having a speed in Mach fraction.

Now, we can get into a debate about the speed of sound in water and whether or not the Mach fraction shown is even correct. ;)

Regardless, the speed of torpedoes, ships, and submarines would more appropriately be given in knots.

Indeed!

If you launch Tacview standalone (without Command), you should be able to customize labels content.

In the playback tool bar at the bottom of Tacview window, you will see a little F-16 with a label on it.

Click on the little arrow to its right and choose what you would like to display for selected and unselected objects. Such as Speed (TAS).

Then from Tacview the main menu Options -> Units select your favorite unit system such as Imperial – Aircraft (nm) to display speeds in knots.
