game challenges that still remain open ... but are password protected.
re: the "password protection" ... I will note that the passworded games are in fact accessible.
The slitherine people might want to somehow encrypt or otherwise "protect" the passwords.
If you wish to test this, start a "passworded" game and I'll accept it without "knowing" the password.
I only point this out so that it can be fixed if need be.

RE: The TOAW Open Challenge Project
Bumping this, as there seems to be an uptick in interest in TOAW lately (based on my observations of Steam charts and other data)....
ANYWAY, I have found that lately, if I post a challenge WITHOUT a password, I get a bite within hours if not sooner.
I hope that interest keeps growing! Some suggestions for scenario choice:
Normandy/Rommel seems fun, if the Allied player can get through the coastal defenses (suggest starting scene as Allied player against a new German player)
Tobruk '41 is also fun from either side ... a desert scene.
Ok, well, have fun! .... I need to update my results grid:

Another friendly "bump" to this thread,
as the uptick in TOAW interest seems to be increasing.
and that's a good thing!

RE: The TOAW Open Challenge Project
Several open challenges are up on the server ... bkil posted a Next War challenge, I would do that, but I've got too many games going already.
I did not get a microphone talker thing for the computer. Santa let me down
but I did get a "MAD" magazine "Its a MAD Christmas" special issue,
pretty funny.
My idea was to set up a "TeamSpeak" server for TOAW,
but it will have to wait until I can find my old microphone.

Indeed, it does seem to be sticking. I see "open" challenges more and more appearing on the server.ORIGINAL: mdanz
This is a great idea. I hope it sticks.
That, along with the uptick in interest lately (as noted by the steam charts) bodes well for this our favorite game!
Have a great gaming year!

Next War WP opponent sought ... challenge is open.
PLZ review next war AARs that are up, this is a scene that is ... challenging.
Hopefully, the Slither Server will help mitigate any CTD issues,
but let's communicate about that if willing. Let's at least play a few turns .... Thanks in advance!!

Pantera4evar has a challenge up for over a week now, Arrocourt 44, passworded ...
maybe his opp. does not know pword? or maybe he doesn't realize he passorded the challenge?
we may never know
<bangs head to Pantera>
maybe I should crack pword?

RE: The TOAW Open Challenge Project
Pantera pword cracked...I think he resigned w/0 moving, not sure,
not in my games list any more ....
but Leonidas posted an open challenge for Arracourt.
Two other "passworded" challenges abide.
My "Sea Lion" challenge for Sandy will soon appear ... if he does not accept, will open. Plz do not accept passworded "Sea Lion" until confirmed. Thanks! Continuing this gentle reminder to all new players:
Don't "password" your games if seeking any opponent! Let it ride! Thanks!

RE: The TOAW Open Challenge Project
There are two challenges that still abide, growing on a month long.
Both are "passworded"
I can only decide that, either 1) their opponent (who HAS the password) has declined, or has otherwise started a PBEM game, OR
2) the challenger does not realize that "any" opponent is NOT requested (but they seek any opponent), but (because of the Slitherine routine) is unable to start the game.
So, herewith, in an effort to spur Slitherine to "fix" the password routine, here are the passwords to those games:
Maybe soon SLitherine will realize, that this routine is costing them players and perhaps even new sales
Operation Bagration (to Berlin) password is: downfall
Manchuria 1945 - Last Stand password is: 1233
Slitherine: Fix your stuff.

Hmm, I posted a game on 2/22, and was accepted by Leonidas048, not sure if that is the same chap. Either case, I sent my first turn that weekend, no turn received from that player, I'll post another game tonight PST. time.

RE: The TOAW Open Challenge Project
I had a game w/ sandy end, but I did not get the endgame screen (I guess he did) and just the email saying game ended and to log in to replay the last move, but still could not find how to look at the last move. I wish they would fix that, or fix the email so that it doesn't say you can do something that you can't do.
I can only see that the game is in "completed games" list and just an option to delete the game, not look at it.

Seeing several "password protected" challenges on the server, a gentle reminder:
If you are seeking any opponent (an open game) please do not password protect your challenges.
And also, post your challenges in "opponent wanted" forum for quickest gaming action!
Have a great gaming day!

RE: The TOAW Open Challenge Project
Request for suggestions: any thoughts on a scene that is not too complex, yet not too simple, that I can offer to a friend?
Looking for something in the WWII era (but all eras are open) just that WWII seems to be the jump off point. Thanks for your suggestions!
