Getting Defeated Then Being Asked Which Way I Want to Attack?

I'm playing the Tunisian Campaign as the Germans. After several battles I was defeated in Hill 350 (decisive American victory). I was then asked which way I wanted to attack (via the road, or over the hills). And of course, after making a choice, I'm still defending on the next battle map. I'm guessing this is a bug? Surely the Americans would choose which route they wished to attack through in this case?

It's not a bug since the game focuses on the US 1st Infantry Division. It's a throwback to the first Close Combat game, where you fought as the 29th(?) Infantry Division. So playing as the Axis wasn't the focus in this game. However with the ability to mod and create battlegroups, it shouldn't be long before someone posts a mod focusing on a Axis Division.

Thanks. Yeh I appreciate that the game is designed to be played from the US side, but it just seems odd that you lose a battle and are then asked which way you want to continue your attack. I'd have thought that the AI would make the decision for the Allied side. Anyway, was just playing as the Axis coz I'd finished playing as the US.

If you're playing from the Axis side you may see this prompt in the decision-point battles (Gum Tree Road and Hill 350) but I've removed it in update 1.1. This is available on Steam as a beta update and will be available to non-Steam users as soon as possible.

Thanks Steve. That makes sense. I think I'm on 1.1 now but probably hadn't switched to the beta feed at the time this event occurred.
