The Greater the Challenge the greater the victory. I am wondering what Tojo gave Hitler to get most of his major surface units? Maybe a sub load of Geishas?

RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
off to a great start with an old S-boat putting a trop in the Akagi. The S-boat Mk-10 torp warheads are smaller then the Mk-14 torps in the fleet boats but their dude rate isn't at the abysmal rate of the Mk-14 either.
RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
Yeap , looked like Akagi Detached from that task force , same task force got attacked by another sub and akagi wasnt in the list. We are playing with Reliable US torps so Mk14's wont be going dud as much i am really looking forward to it [:D]ORIGINAL: Bif1961

KB didnt show up anywhere and some invasions are missing , i expect early DEI takeover or OZ invasion at this point [:(]
RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
IJ gets a ton more of everything in the base Ironman scenario. It will be interesting to see if the IJ can manage the supply issues of supporting all of these forces. He is going to have to be VERY bold as he needs to greatly expand his economy (HI+LI+Resources) to keep his forces in supply. The game designer counted on the AI losing a great deal of these extra assets, a human player won't lose nearly as many so the supply requirement isn't going to be balanced without some huge gains.
On the flip side you will have to remember:
his ships won't run out of ammo, yours will
some of his ships have insane EXP, they will cut you up.
Betty/Nells will hit about 85% of the time.
You will be facing 2:1 in the air or worse the entire war (or until he runs out of supply)
If I were your opponent:
1. seal china.
2. Take CK by july/Aug 42
3. Take Calcutta by 5/42 and seal Burma.
4. go after SOV and take it out by 5/43 OR take Karachi and seal India from CAPE/Aden.
5. distract allies by taking Alaska and threatening Canada/Seattle/Portland.
Calcutta+SOV or Calcutta+Karachi will give him +2M supply that he will desperately need. And he has the forces that he should be able to do it. Not sure he can pull off both. Either way, CONUS has a serious threat in mid-43.
Glad I'm not playing the allies in this one. Good Luck!!!

RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
Got the turn back , KB Spotted [X(]
RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
KB is there, with other TFs it looks like, and there's no landing at Kota Bharu?
He's going for Mersing or Palembang. You better hotfoot (or hot-rail?) everyone in Malaya down to Singers pronto. Or at least start packing. But that Brigade in Kota needs to get out of there.
It's a strange place to use KB right now. You can accomplish those landings without it. This is good news for you. I would send your CVs toward the Coral Sea, and if he is tardy getting to Rabaul, hit that landing.

RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
Correct , no landings at kota bharu. I left both Kota and Mersing forces on combat mode so i didnt get caught in strat move mode or movement mode , now i am pulling them back. I wanted to evac Aussie brigades so i didnt evac the AP's at Singapore but i guess thats not happening anymore [:D]
If he came to mersing without CV's Bi-planes would have made it very costly , but is it worth to do Mersing gambit if its not on day 1 as most of my troops are already packed gonna start strat moving this turn , i guess he might still cut off a couple brigades. We shall see
I am flooding the area with subs at the moment might catch a few CV's , i spent most of my Political power on better submarine skippers first turn lets see if thats gonna pay-off

Oh come on! Don't you know, that there will be resource convoys through this strait between Kyushu, and Honshu? Why there are no submarines there?
Japan starts with some extra CVs in that one. I'm not sure their starting position but it is probably possible to create TWO KBs.

RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
Do you mean between Honshu and Hokkaido ? Because i got quite a bit of subs around Kyushu , sub positions will be adjusted i didnt wanna endanger too many subs crossing mine filled narrow passagesORIGINAL: inqistor

RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
There is a CVE or CVL in the same spot with KB , looks like he is looking to form a Japanese Deathstar early. Task force to the SE of Davao is another CV task force with 94 fighters , 24 bombers and 9 auxilary. I find the fighter to bomber ratio a bit weird could it be fog of war ?
RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
Ah yeah, sorry. 118, 53 have to be crossed, if he wants to unload in northern Japan. Also, Hachinohe is frequently used for eastern Hokkaido transport. And don't forget Sakhalin.ORIGINAL: Evoken

I barely use southern ports in Japan (Mainly Yokohama, and whatever shows up at Osaka). But also consider Yellow Sea (Shanghai, and Port Arthur). Think, where he would want to reload guns, after bombardment. Remember about approaches to oil centers.
I would say your patrol routes are too extended, no reason for Japan to send ships north of Fusan, for example.
RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
SO, the AI has trouble with re-arming ships … getting them to the right size port. Ironman addresses this by making the ship ammo loadout MUCH bigger for the AI.ORIGINAL: Evoken

RE: Ironman insanity - Evoken(A) vs Guctony(Ironman Japan)
Subs: You don't really have enough of them in '42 to do that and until you get your major ASW boost in Q3Y43, his SC/E's are able to find/fight your subs very effectively. By crossing convoys only Fusan/Fukuoka and Ominato/Hakodate it is pretty easy to create kill zones. They are short runs, and he can put up very dense NavSearch/ASW to keep your subs DL high. Then his ASW TF's can get hits …ORIGINAL: Evoken
