In PBEM games we have found that good instructions make turn end easy (or as easy as possible). You can check how we give instructions for example here:
fb.asp?m=4755468
And try to avoid saving and reloading, specially during production phase.

If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush.

RE: GLOBAL WAR COUNTER-FACTUAL (W1/Wilhelm vs rkr1958/jp)
I think one person doing the thing with orders like the ones sent by Warspite is the way to go. As it is now it is very slow.
As the CW player I do not mind doing the actions for everyone. I have now sent the file to Wilhelm to reorganize using oil for Japan.
On another note I am going away from early tomorrow morning for about a week. I am going with 24 students to Warsaw, Lublin and Lodz to visit holocaust sites as part of a one-year program where we work with human rights, tolerance and de-polarization.
We are going to follow the paths of Janusz Korcak, Marek Edelman and others at sites like Treblinka and Majdanek.
This will be my third year working with this program and it strikes me at times that we are playing WW2-games representing the places and people where these atrocities took place.
Anyway, I discussed with Ronnie wether or not he would take charge of the Western Allies and we concluded that it is better to wait for a few days til I am back.
I have a few hours this evening to finalize the end of the turn but after that we need to take a break.

RE: GLOBAL WAR COUNTER-FACTUAL (W1/Wilhelm vs rkr1958/jp)
My intention was not to tell how do it. Just warning that saving and loading during turn end may cause problems.
We had a bug because I did some builds and reloaded and did them again. During that turn CW build 4 CPs and reload caused CW getting 2x 4 CPs.
CW has lots of ships. If stay at sea and return to base are done then anyone can do the rest.

RE: GLOBAL WAR COUNTER-FACTUAL (W1/Wilhelm vs rkr1958/jp)
Notes from end of turn in addition to what the Axis has done. I aim to make a better structure for end of turn if we settle on using written orders.
Return to base:
CW returns some of their fleet to protect their convoys and they keep their naval presence in the East Med. The rest of the fleet returns home.
France returns their fleet to Marseille to resupply.
One US tranport returns to Honolulu to resupply. One returns to the westcoast.
----------
Oil reorg:
CW uses 3 oil to reorganize all their naval units.
France and the US uses less than 0.5 oil to reorganize. I realize the mistake I did by rebasing the fleet to Marseille without even thinking about it, I cannot refuel the fleet because of the Italian MTN.
Production:
NOTE:
Italian FTRs not scrappable yet.
German LNDs were not scrappable.
Germany
Scrap the three LND (1 x Hs123, 1 x Do-17E, 1 x He-111B)
3 x PIL
1 x LND (2)
1 x NAV (3)
1 x FTR (3)
1 x SUB Construction
Italy
Scrap the two 3-quality fighters
1 x PIL
China builds 2 MIL and a Cav Div
CW builds builds 3 PIL, 2 Convoy, repair CA Suffolk and CA London
France builds a PIL, 1 MIL and a GARR. Save 1 bp.
US builds a PIL, a FTR, build the Langley, an INF DIV and a MECH DIV
USSR build a MTN, a MTN Div and a Ski Div
Conquest:
Denmark was conquered by Germany.
Poland was conquered by Germany.
French Somaliland was conquered by Italy.
Iceland becomes an neutral minor country. Convoys forced to rebase to Plymouth.
Faroes becomes an neutral minor country.
Greenland becomes an neutral minor country.
Sending the turn to Germany as I do not find the HE-111 they want to deploy.

2. Sending the turn to Germany as I do not find the HE-111 they want to deploy.
1. Not so - the program allowed me to scrap both - I think you were looking at the scrapped destroyed screen. I have added an explanation to assist in my end of turn comments.
2. I wrote: Aachen: 6-3 INF, He-112 I haven't asked for an He-111 to be deployed. However I will also make clearer my aircraft choices in ALL my end of turn orders going forward (see end of turn comments).
I will have a look at the various posts and the game tomorrow morning.

RE: GLOBAL WAR COUNTER-FACTUAL (W1/Wilhelm vs rkr1958/jp)
Okay I have the file back at placing German air reserves so I can fix b but not a.
I would let it go but I think this needs fixing as these are some pretty rubbish aircraft I need scrapping!!
My suggestion is that we all provide detailed orders at the end of the turn and the Commonwealth player executes all the orders. This is a pain for the CW but probably less than having to write out detailed orders for so many ships!
My vote is that we hold the game while Jp is away, all orders are provided in the meantime and we ask him to do the end of turn in entirety.

As a neutral observer I can verify that these units should be scappable.
Dated 1936 they would not be able to be scrapped during set up, as all powers are neutral, (4 years).
BUT, once active that reduces to 3 years, hence 1939. SO as long as they are in the force pool and not already built (production spiral or reserve pool) they can be scrapped. The HS123 with the Naval Air point I do find useful though. Especially with an A2A factor of 3, which is better than most Euro Axis NAV.

Indeed. I have that one in the Reserve Pool. The unit being scrapped is without a naval air rating.

RE: GLOBAL WAR COUNTER-FACTUAL (W1/Wilhelm vs rkr1958/jp)
Back from my trip I will try and get back into the game. It seems like Wilhelm redid the end of the turn to reflect the orders better. Good.
Reinforcements for the Allies:
China gets a MIL in Kunming.
CW assigns pilots to a LND Hampden, a NAV Vildebeest and a FTR Hurricane
CW deploys BB Valiant in Plymoth, a NAV Vildebeest in Bristol and a FTR and a LND in SE of England.
A CW convoy is deployed in Egypt.
France deploys a MIL in Dakar.
The US deploys CA Houston and a transport on the westcoast.
Communist China deploys a MIL in Si-An.

Welcome back - hopefully you'll have some feedback on the trip in due course?
See post 189. I haven't got the game to hand at the moment but I believe you have to say 1 resource and 1 oil iirc.

Initiative rolled
Axis 3
Allies 7
Axis choses not reroll and the Allies gets the initiative.
The allies choses to move first.
Weather roll is a 5 which means storm in the Arctic, rain in the North Temperate and fine everywhere else.
