Gib transit hexes turned off?

Post by Helsingor »

Hi,

Just started a couple of new MP games as Axis (version 1.06.01, with Hotfix) and tried to slip some ships through the straits. I get the DE asking if I want to go through or stay put. I say yes and...nothing happens. Ships are still in the same place next turn.

There was a lot of discussion about Gib lately; I was wondering if the transit hexes had been turned off, or if it's a bug.

Hi Helsingor,

I just tried it and it seems to work for me so this is indeed odd. Could you tell me what your challengeID number is?

Thanks,
Hubert

Is it possible that if an allied player fills enough spaces west of Gibraltar, the axis unit will not sail through? Or will the axis unit always find a way and simply appear deeper into the Atlantic?

West of Gibraltar the Allied player would need to place 12 units to cover all arrival locations, so it could be possible to block a unit from traversing Gibraltar but perhaps not likely in a real game situation?

I tested this as well and in this case the Axis unit would still disappear from the transit hex, and would then return after a few turns as a failed transit attempt.

Hi Hubert,

Just tried it again in both games with the same result--the Axis naval units (whether Transports or warships) just stay where they are. IDs for the games are: 177547 and 177503.

And there were no Allied ships in the vicinity of Gib when I tried the first moves. Now there are[:D], but I was never blocked in any way.

Thanks for any help.

This is very odd as I've tried this a couple of different ways on my end and it all seems to work as expected. I tried game 177547, I can extract a copy of it and test in HOTSEAT mode and it worked as expected, and I also tried testing in PBEM++ with a test game and it worked as expected there as well.

The only thing I can suggest is for me to try your game directly, and if you are up for that, please send me an email at support@furysoftware.com

Hi Hubert,

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass for now. I'll see if it recurs that next time I start a game as the Axis, in which case I'll give you a shout.
BTW, I tried a solo game as Axis and the transit hexes worked fine (both in-bound and out-bound), so I really don't understand what's going on with these games
