supply by air

Could someone please explain to me all the requirements to resupply a unit by air.

I know you need to have air transport.

I have figured out how to drop my paratroopers (as Germany)

However the little airplane for resupply seems to always be greyed out. Is there some sort of distance check, or an on board unit has to be close, or a max range of ability?

I assume the land unit needs to be out of supply in order for this option to show ??

Paratroopers need 100% efficiency to paradrop. It requires some preparation, and usually the expenditure of trucks.

Air Supply requires to have an air unit in range AND for your unit to be normally out of supply. -- Careful that these can be intercepted so make sure to have air cover to escort your air transport.

How are trucks involved in getting the Paratroopers ready?

Expend a truck on a unit and it increases the efficiency.

I have learnt the hard way about interception of Paradrops. Painful!
