Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Axis #3. Denmark and Malta.

The fine weather also gives the Wehrmacht the opportunity to quickly subdue Denmark. Also, it presents the Italians with the opportunity to grab an undefended Malta.

Note the deployment of the BEF to the North Sea. So the invasion of Denmark must be complete, meaning that control of all hexes bordering the North Sea must be flipped to Germany in order to prevent Gort and his minions for disembarking there and throwing a monkey wrench into German plans. Fortunately for Germany, they have the units on the Danish border, which survived not being flipped during the previous allied surprise DOW impulse, to do just that. That is, flip control of all Danish hexes bordering the North Sea during the surprise impulse and thus locked out the CW from landing in Denmark.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Axis #3. Italy Enters the War.

The opportunity to take Malta was just too great. Italy declares war on the CW, but not France. Normally an undefended but in supply Malta would have 1 notional. However, because of the surprise DOW by Italy, Malta's strength is reduced by 1 notional meaning that it can be taken by a single Italian division in the 3- (fine only) or 4-box (fine or rain).

Italy's 1st inf division takes Malta but fails to capture and destroy either of the RN sub groups based there, both of which manage to escape to Gibraltar.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. End of Turn. Germany.

With Poland and Denmark secure, Germany has begun the transfer of troops and planes from Poland to the West for their coming attacks (i.e., invasions) of the Low Countries and attacks on France.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. End of Turn. Franco-Italian Border.

Though Mussolini pulled a fast one with Churchill and took Malta, he's decided to remain neutral with France. Though neutral, the level of mistrust between both sides means sizable Italian and French forces are arrayed against each other on the border.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. End of Turn. Egypt.

The Italians brazenly push forward into Egypt irritating Mr. Churchill just that much more.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. End of Turn. East Africa.

There's no end to El Duce's thirst for world domination. Italian forces push into CW controlled Sudan and British Somailaland.
