Teleporting Units

Post by Q-Ball »

I just had a unit, a 1/3 Division unit of the IJA 20th Division, teleport from Wenchow (where it was beseiging the city) to Wuchow (which I had taken just a couple turns before). It's not a game changer so I'm playing through, just curious if anyone else has observed something like this.

Also, does it have anything to do with the similarity of the two city names?

I suspect, I have seen it few times. Small, separate LCUs, which were suddenly few hexes away, in position which served no purpose. I always though I have misclicked something earlier.

I've had one or two similar instances, never significant to the overall game so havent investigated thoroughly. Castor Troy's AAR discussed it a bit most recently, though I'm not sure a resolution was reached.

At the original base, another IJA division and an HQ, that's it. Basically the same at the "new" base.

I was thinking along the lines of the Teleporting Ship problem which usually happens with large numbers of ships at a port. Oh well....GP

I have had this happen with the display going to random map sections when I transferred air units and with ships when I had them on patrol and changed their home base, but the TF screen still shows the original home base as the target. Usually, when it comes time to return to home port it makes the change but sometimes it seems to lose track of things.

Only time I had a real teleporting problem is when I changed orders for a TF in the off-map holding box and it got lost for weeks at a time. So basically, whenever you have a series of clicks that confuses the AI about what is happening, it might do random things. It seems to help if you have not gone a long time without restarting the game. Three turns or more is a lot of data for it to keep track of in RAM (if you click on as many bases and units as I do).

Are you playing an up to date version?

I had this happen in an older version when a unit that should have been killed at a base was instead teleported to Tokyo.

I'm playing the latest official version, 26a. The unit was in fine shape, intact actually. Just very strange.

+1

Never experienced "teleportation units on map"

Never played IJN before.

Have experienced bugs with "off Map" or "holding box" ships convoys.

I "think" it is a known issue - never play with the orders / constituents / cargo - of "off Map or in holding box i.e. Capetown
