After getting bored with my last game in April of '46, I restarted with a slightly home modified version of Ironman Japan ported to Babes. It was originally scenario 40, and my version is now 41.

Started on Hard, with historical first turn, unit withdrawals and for the first time ever, no variability on reinforcements.

Ran the opening turn and am now faced with the daunting prospect of the Allied first turn.

Ona personal note, after sheltering at home for nine days, I want back to work Friday. Unfortunately, this morning I awoke with mild cold symptoms, a stuffy head, cough and dihrrea. I'm praying it's only a spring cold and not the virus, but it means I'm sequestered at home again until it runs its course.

Good luck on both fronts Hans....GP

Good luck Hans. Be safe and be well soon. Please contact your primary care provider about this.

Hans, FWIW I was surprised to see that upper respiratory cold-like symptoms are a rarity in COVID-19 cases. Stuffy nose, post nasal drip, sneezing and diarrhea are seen in only something like 5% of the cases. Fingers crossed for you.

I got back to read what the forum had to say about coronavirus.

- Game against George Patton [Matrix forum member]: 01/JULY/1942. Only one running on currently. Scen1 extended map. Japanese side. I'm besieging Sydney and rushing to the 4:1 in score. One turn per-day on average, more during cov-19...

- Game against Lele88 [Italian forum member] : 25/12/1941. Scen1 normal map. Allied side. Still waiting for his turn since 04/DEC/2019. After I sunk few tankers and a couple of CVLs in front of Java, he's "busy".

- Game against StePeterPan [Matrix and Italian forum member] : June/1943. Scen1 normal map. Japanese side. Besieging Karachi. Interrupted 6 months ago for very relevant personal reasons of my opponent. One day we'll might catch up. Still in touch via whatsapp but no turns.

Then MANY aborted games [all in Scen1 normal map]:
- 2 aborted as Allied player in Dec-1941 due to enemy's surrender.
- 1 aborted as Allied player in Dec-1941 against George Patton due to enemy's surrender (and decision to restart inverting the sides)
- 1 aborted as Japanese player in Aug-1942 due to enemy's surrender and after a nasty situation [he violated HRs etcetc]
- 1 aborted as Japanese player in 1945 due to opponent's personal problems. We decided not to resume in the future.
- 1 aborted as Allied player in March-1942 due to opponent's lack of time to continue [I took the game in Feb/42] against a trickier enemy.

Game against the AI Japan. After several months away from it, I have no idea what I was doing or why.

Incredibly helpful thread, thanks! The first couple turns for Japan are just incredibly hard to face! :)

Slept most of the day and took some Petpo pills for the runs. Head is less congested and cough is almost non-extistant. Was/is nothing serious.

Both employer and brother were all over me to 'get tested'. Didn't think it was necessary and would have wasted a limited resource.

Did some checking online regarding local testing and criteria. A local HC provider is setting up drive through testing locations, but test kits are limited in number and all facilities may not have sufficient stock. Recommendations are IF one has a fever and shortness of breath, one should call to get directions on how to proceed and plan on getting tested.

I have neither of the criteria symptoms, but will play hell now convincing my employer I'm OK to go back to work without a clean bill of health from some one official.

I must be the Lurker of all lurkers! I've been playing since 2009. I started the Dec. 8th campaign several times, all against the AI. Finally, with AE updated to the last MichaelM beta I've progressed to June 1945. I am determined to finish this someday. As you can tell from my Post count, not an effusive contributor to the Forum, but I read a lot in the background. Haven't been on the Forum much lately as I took a break for about a year as I tired of making sure remote bases had enough supply, ships were getting fixed in ports, and pilots were getting to bed on time. Now I'm back for the push to the end!

Stay well!

Greeting All

Playing modified version of Scn#26, with additional USCG patrol craft, USN AK, added supplies and fuel to most Japan Island, also added supplies to bases that Japan AI sees to go after at beginning of game.
Playing no withdrawals, Very Hard 1 to 3 days turns.
Heavy damage to BB at Pearl on Dec 7th, but none were sunk.

Only bragging right are for two attacks by the same British sub with the sinking of CVL Ryujo. Ryujo was spotted and as many subs as possible where sent to intercept.

That should be according to the nomenclature.

Yes, yes it is. I love my Dutch subs. They are great against softer targets....GP

Well, maybe. For most of us a GC takes 2-3 years to play. [:D]

I've been around this game for a few days...

I've got a game VS DOCUP - we are in May of 42 in a mod of his own making.

I've got a 2nd game VS Roger Neilson where I'm the 2nd owner of the Japanese side. I took over the Japanese side in May of 1945 and things are pretty grim for Japan. I'm hoping Roger will drop an A-Bomb. I'd like to see what that looks like from Japan's side. This is the furthest I've ever been in a game as Japan.

I'd like to find a partner for the Focus in the Pacific Mod but I'll wait until after my game with Roger. ParadigmBlue and BillBrown kind of got me hooked on this mod so once my dance card has an opening I'll advertise. The only other mod I might be interested in is the BTS one John, Michael, and their team are working on...
