Europe 1939 Italian Option

Post by agathop »

I recently updated to v. 1.00.06 and I started playing Europe 1939 Italian Option scenario against the A.I.
I found out that:
a) Italy has not anymore the option of declaring war on the Allies (which ofcourse can be easily fixed by editing the scenario file) and
b) the italian fleet cannot intercept allied (french and english) submarines raiding Italy's convoy lines.
Any help would be appreciated.

For point a), looks like there is indeed a problem.
For point b), do you assigned escorts to your convoy lines?

I just checked it. Italy is set not at 100%.

I wonder if I accidentally saved to the wrong file when saving the 1939 scenario. It's fixed and I will be sure it is in the next update correctly. Sorry about that.

I have a similar problem
Playing PBM standard '39 scenario.Nov '39 Italy filling up with nasty Germans even tho' (obviously) Italy is not in the war.
Can they attack from a (currently) neutral country? If so it seems wrong. If not, it's quite funny but there should be a bar on G units entering Italy until the latter's DOW

Italy not at war but fully part of the Alliance wouldn't stop Germans from coming through.
Just like Germany was requesting Spain and Yugoslavia to allow German passage via their country. In Bulgaria they were allowed to pass and Bulgaria was neutral.

Solution? DOW as the Allies on Italy.

That was a scenario the players wanted thus it is hypothetical. Not recommended for A.I. play.

My bad - I hadn't noticed that my cheesy french moves triggered the condition making Italy join the axis early[:D]

Thanks for your reply. Regarding point b, I am sorry I didn't make my self quite clear. I am not talking about assigning escorts to repel convoy attacks but actually using Italian fleet destroyer units (counters) to engage the french and british submarines. It can be done when I am playing with a human opponent it seems to me there is a problem when facing the AI.

That is SC style of ASW. This is WarPlan and escorts are your friend. Air units and CVs can hammer subs though in lane.

Now if the sub is next to any non-ocean tile it can be attacked by surface units. Basically considered in shallow water.

Thanks. Sort it out. It had to do with submarines not set to raiding option. Sorry for the fuss.
