If I save my game without completing my turn, my PBEM message disappears

Maybe the message that we could send during our game? Is it possible to save a turn during a PBEM?

I start playing my PBEM turn. I write a message for my opponent.

Then for whatever reason I have to stop playing and save my game.

When later I come back to finish my turn, the PBEM message I wrote has disappeared.

Due to constraints on the data package size I can upload to the Matrix server I had to cut a few corners. PBEM message was one of them. It is a temporary storage.

I actually have to zip the game save to send it to the server or it doesn't fit.

For global I have to come up with something really creative because it won't fit. I already advised Matrix the save data amount is too little for the server. I can tell you from the start I drastically reduced the size of the save file by don't some 1980s style boolean conversions to bits on quite a few things to save space.

Thanks, that's odd given that we are in 2020. Last time I worried about data size was years ago.
Let's encourage Matrix Games to allow for a little more data per savegame on their server.

I was a little perplexed myself when I 1st did PBEM and the save way too large. I'm like how is that possible?!

Originally I reduced the data drastically just so players wouldn't have to wait. I am still old school 1980s saving on every byte type of programmer.

Got it! I was honestly confused and didn't know how to try to help.

I got started in the early 90s so I know what you mean. I've never had the pleasure to do game programming though.
