Not much traffic in NYC today. Mostly delivery trucks, ambulances from all over the country, and a more than noticeable amount of hearses and mortuary vans on the highways. Dark times on a beautiful spring day.

John, I know a couple of nurses here that reported for duty in NYC. Georgia peaches, they happen to be.
Really pulling for you and NYC. I've shared with my family quite a few things you've posted.

We got a ton of goodwill from all around the country and I know a full plane full from Georgia. We will return the favor as soon as we can. Broke one of my own rules and was listening to the EMS Dispatch radio. Something was odd and I figured out that they were spelling out street names. That's because we have a ton of out of state folks that showed up to help. Got word today that the State and City shutdown has been extended until April 29th and all non essential personnel will remain at home until at least then. I'm not in that group so I'm still in every other day and remote the other. The good news is free premium parking and no traffic, the bad news is I'm no longer on the train so my reading time has has been drastically shortened. That really hurts

So we opened the floodgates of America bashing and we finally see people's true colors.
Good riddance.
More inappropriate.
For the record, since we seem to be self-moderating, that's why I'm tagging these.
And you were apparently voted hall monitor?
What part of self meaning only you is too complex for you?
A shame you can't grasp what you are doing is just as inappropriate.

I'm gunna stop using deodorant as a deterrent towards those that would attempt to invade my social distancing space. I think this should work effectively against those approaching from down-wind... [:D]
Also a good excuse to conserve water usage and cut back on showering [:D]
No chemicals - that's all-natural musk! lol

Thus far a good report from Louisiana today.
And, to my knowledge, its the first state to reach its projected peak in daily mortality. That is really cool to see (and lots more coming soon, including New York and California).

Deleware, Vermont and Washington too.
Colorado is one day away.
Just good to see some states may be turning the curve or flattening.

RE: OT: Corona virus
infection rate is slowing. It was 32% a day on March 8th and went above 35% for a bit in mid March. It was 27% a day on Saturday and it looks like we will come in today at 26%. Deaths are a lagging indicator so they continue to climb but social distancing is working. I'm hoping to see a real change by the begging of May in New York. Not sure whats comes next or how to we get back to work but tomorrow looks better than today in my part of the world

I competed against Boris Johnson in a poetry contest (with hundreds of others no doubt)...and he won...by rhyming "Ankara" with "wankerer"..
I hope the guy is OK after all this.

Coronavirus: Tiger at Bronx Zoo tests positive for Covid-19
3 hours ago
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52177586
A four-year-old female Malayan tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for the coronavirus.
"The tiger, named Nadia, is believed to be the first known case of an animal infected with Covid-19 in the US.
The Bronx Zoo, in New York City, says the test result was confirmed by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Iowa.
Nadia, along with six other big cats, is thought to have been infected by an asymptomatic zoo keeper.
The cats started showing symptoms, including a dry cough, late last month after exposure to the employee, who has not been identified. "

It looks like all states have reported today except Idaho. US mortality 1,230 on a day projected to be 1,967.** So the actual total may be much less than projected, amplifying the trend leading to yesterday's downward projections. It would be something to see another adjustment to the graphs in a few days or a week.
**Subject to whatever additional totals come in before midnight.

"Major supermarket chains are beginning to report their first coronavirus-related employee deaths, leading to store closures and increasing anxiety among grocery workers as the pandemic intensifies across the country."
"Those efforts are likely to take on new urgency, analysts said, as supermarket workers across the country begin to see colleagues fall ill from covid-19. More than 356,000 Americans have tested positive for the coronavirus as of Monday afternoon, and nearly 10,500 have died. "

Number of coronavirus deaths in New York flattens and hospitalizations fall, suggesting social distancing is working
April 6, 2020 at 7:17 p.m. ET
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/numbe ... 2020-04-06
"With the number of COVID-19 deaths flat two straight days and new hospitalizations falling, New York is possibly entering the pandemic’s apex, said Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday. However, he stressed that New Yorkers need to practice better social distancing and extended the state’s lockdown until at least April 29.
“We get reckless, we change or are not compliant on social distancing, you will see those numbers go up again,” Cuomo said. “This virus has kicked our rear end; we underestimate this virus at our peril. Now is not the time to slack off on what we’re doing.”"

NYC to begin temporarily burying coronavirus victims in local parks
April 6, 2020
https://nypost.com/2020/04/06/nyc-to-be ... cal-parks/
"“We may well be dealing with temporary burials, so we can deal with each family later,” the mayor said. We will have the capacity for temporary burials – that’s all I’m going to say.”
“I’m not going into details,” de Blasio said. “I don’t think it’s a great thing to be talking about.”"

Merely info on what is going on.
Yes, most of the trailers are full. They had carpenters add a 2nd deck (kind of like bunk beds) but they are about out of room. I am aware of one of the locations, but I expect there will be a few. Usually they go to Hart Island, which is potters field, but it is a bit of chore to get there. Temporary measure. Strange days indeed. I feel this will be the big week. I have no idea what comes after

Governors see possible 'flattening' of the curve in latest coronavirus data
Improvements in New York, New Jersey, California and Washington raise

"Improvements in New York, New Jersey, California and Washington raise hopes, but "this isn’t over," one governor warns."
"In the absence of a national order to close businesses and keep people at home, the New York governor formed a regional coalition with New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania last month to uniformly limit the number of people who could gather in groups and close nonessential establishments throughout the region."
