No in-game sounds after fresh install.

Post by Vici Supreme »

Hi,

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I bought Witp-AE in summer 2017 and have been playing more or less frequently since then. Today I decided to remove and re-install War in the Pacific on my computer because my initial install was a complete mess (even though everything worked well) and I wanted to clean up my directory.

However, my in-game sound is now gone and I can't figure out what could be the problem. Strangely, the intro movie is still playing with sounds... My sound files are all where they are supposed to be and will play when opened manually in the directory. I've also looked at other threads (namely here and here) to find a solution but to no avail so far.

Some general specs of my system and my game:

I am running Witp-AE on Windows 10.

I am running the v1.8.11.26b Unofficial Public Beta

My command line switches are: -f -dd_sw -deepColor -SingleCpuOrders -px1920 -py1080

Thank you very much in advance.

I agree but the general disorganisation of my Witp directory started to mess with my other Matrix Games installs.

Just checked, the values are: Main volume: 5, Music volume: 0, Background FX: 3, Unit Sounds FX: 3. I modified some of the values to see if something changes but no. :/

Music at 0. Well to be honest, I play with the game volumes all off and listen to music. If you have a laptop, check the volume there. If a desktop check your speakers and there connections. That's all I can think of unless your sound files are corupt. In which case use the uninstall feature and then reinstall....GP

Hi,

I ran through a fresh install today, unfortunately the outcome is still the same.
Honestly, I wouldn't be bothered with in-game sounds as well, if it wasn't for these (so-to-speak) sound notifications of a vessel hitting a mine, a sub being sunk or a sub sinking a ship. I doubt it has something to do with my hardware since the intro movie is still playing with sound and all of that. I suspect it has something to do with the files but I'm not enough of a computer guy to see the obvious error in front of me.

Anyways, thanks for the help so far.

Try -multiaudio switch.

It could also depend on the software you have set on your computer to handle sounds and videos. If the software does not handle the file type that the game uses for sounds (WMA - windows media audio or whatever media format it is), then you must designate that file format to a different software that can handle it (In the Windows Control Panel section on File Formats).
