unit experience

Post by Dalwin »

I just searched through the manual and read every reference to the word "experience."

There are several mentions of changing the default starting experience or on how to gain experience, but very little on the actual effects of a unit having higher experience. I only found two effects mentioned.

1.)A land unit with higher experience is less likely to retreat.

2.)A naval unit which fails an experience check suffers additional effectiveness loss. However, the formula for this listed in the manual seems backward with a higher experience meaning more likely to take the extra effectiveness loss. The manual shows it as "if random 1-100% < unit experience% then it suffers extra effectiveness loss." Surely that is meant to be greater than instead of less than so that higher experience is an advantage rather than disadvantage. Hopefully this is just a typo in the manual and not how it is actually working in game.

Are there any other effects to experience? If it is only the two things listed above it hardly seems worth all the effort put into tracking it or being worth a setting as one of two difficulty factors that can be set.

It affects your combat strength for all units.

Germany has the best land experience thus it's land combat strength is higher man for man than any other country.
