Air strike vs. Ground support

Post by magic87966 »

Is there a difference in effectiveness? I always strike with air first ( usually just two times) and then ground units. But I haven’t put bombers on “support” to add their attack value to ground attacks. Am I missing something? Do combined arms attacks pack a bigger punch?

See my topic Air Unit in the Ground Game. I have been poking at this same topic. I posted some of my guesses/conclusions on my last post.

ground strikes are more of a focus. Ground support is overall more effective as a general front push and especially on defense.

The Axis and Soviets generally tried breakthroughs to encircle and surround units with the latter doing it later in the war more than early of course

The Western Allies had a general front push. Walk men up, encounter resistance, fall back, shell the crap out of the position, move forward after the Germans left the area.

So here you have the same balance of play offering the same optional strategies each side did with variation on how much you want to do it. It tries to replicate the effectiveness of air power best it can.
