Tortuga, 10 stars out of 10. Looking forward to more and of course, you are awesome.

Greyhunterlp, 10 stars out of 10. You sir, were made to support complex games like this - I do not understand the low amount of subscribers based on the Shadow Empires. EXCELLENT JOB! Constructive criticism, not sure if it is your microphone, but I cannot make out what you are saying about 20% of the time. But keep the faith, you are killing it!

Could you guys provide a little more of an explanation of the Gov't things (the three types) and how the Decisions are impacting this. Grey, you were trying to explain, but I had trouble understanding you.

Thanks for the 10/10!

I could do an overview video if there is intrest. I'm not 100% on the mechanics myself yet, but i can go over some areas in more detail.

Anything else you want covering?

I am also really enjoying the You Tube walkthroughs.

It is obvious that there is real immersion generated by the multitude of decisions.

It also seems wise in the view of the famous military commander "Captain Hindsight" to be wary about overly aggressive expansion with just militia early on [:D]

Does it seem like none of the Youtuber's take developing infrastructure and/or logistics at little each turn seriously?

Nor do they seem to look to play their cards proactively instead of only looking when there is a problem.

From my side, I've changed my strategic approach 180 degrees (as explained in my Live Stream Medusa World series) to try and get the resources I need to ultimately boost Beaurocratic Points (BP) as quickly as possible and to focus heavily on discovering Economic and Military techs (without investing too much in actual research) so that I can pick exactly what I need to build the ideal army.
Originally I was treating it like Advanced Tactics where it was critically important to rush forward to secure choke-points and defendable terrain.

This is a big, complex game, and it's easy to overlook the basics because of the sheer amount of things there are to do. It's tempting to play it like a standard 4x but that doesn't work out until you know what everything does.

My last game I ran into a big problem because I'd not pushed to get Power Stations: thought I was all clever with three cities, a large army and loads of food domes. Then the power-cut happened... apparently your people don't like starving much.

Willgamer, check out Das' series titled MEDUSA. Man, it is so good.., soooo good, better than watching the combat scenes in the village at the end of Saving Private Ryan. Well, maybe not that good, but it is GREAT!

None of the three awesome Youtubers has clicked on what happens when you upgrade the truck model. What exactly does that do?

It is just engine size from what I can see which would give it more range. TBH, I don't like the manpower cost of trucks so rarely use them. An infantry brigade will cost you 5,500 recruits while a motorised (with trucks) infantry brigade will cost you 11,000 recruits. Fo the sake of moving them around a bit faster in the open it isn't worth it. I'm guessing that is why no-one has bothered upgrading trucks.

I see a use for trucks, despite this valid criticism: consider the case where your infantry are using very heavy armour and equipment, and you've a vast Russia sized continent to cross. Marching takes a long time, and the logistical cost for the strategic movement of such heavy weighted units is very high. In this situation, motorised/mechanised infantry can be a godsend. I've had a quick look at the largest planet sizes and BOY! are they big. I think before you've fully upgraded your roads/rail, they might be handy (although the manpower cost is indeed significant!)

Also, motorised/mechanised infantry can be extremely useful to quickly get a strong defensive formation into a position as part as an offensive. I do expect that a small number of them could be quite useful in their traditional role of supporting a blitzkrieg assault. You'd typically not want to field a large number of such resource expensive troops.

That being said, this isn't a historical sim: I do wonder if we might find, with some exploration of this game, that once transplanted from their historical context, certain traditionally useful formations might be less useful in this alien environment? What might have worked for Germany in WW2 with their perculiar strategic situation at the start of the war might not necessarily be best for a Regime in Shadow Empire with a large territory, endless resources and so forth.
