Help in Java

Post by paolorossi »

Hi,

I need some help, perhaps I'm missing something
It's September '44 in the complete scenario
I'm trying to reconquer Java
Iìm in Semarang, but when I try to go to Soerabaja I receive the message that I'm "unable to reach the target, move not allowed"
Why?
Something wrong?
Many thanks
Paolo

If you can post a picture of the map, that would help.

Semereng and Soerabaja are about three hexes apart. In all likelihood, enemy units occupy the in-between hexes so that there is no valid route of travel. You'd have to take enough hexes and hexsides to open a path.

Many thanks to both
Here is the map

I thought myself that I need to conquer each step, but now I'm in Soerakarta and I was trying to go to Madioen (next by) and again "unable to reach target. Move not allowed". Could it be because I've not already conquered Soerakarta?
Thanks
Paolo

You can use the "W" key to check hexside control. You are probably trying to move through a hexside you do not control. Hit the "W" key and re-send the map.

Also, are you trying to move a unit in MOVE mode, or Strategic Move?

You need to capture Soerakarta where you have a unit with no enemy and then Tjoepoe. You have no clear path to Soerabaja. You also can not go from one enemy controlled base to another enemy controlled base.

Sometimes if you are in Move mode and your troops get that message, it is because they are too weak or have too low morale to enter a hex with enemy in it.
Sometimes it is an issue with where you click in the hex - e.g. if there was just a battle in a hex and you click on the crossed swords icon in the hex, the computer will not register the hex as the target and will tell you that you cannot go there. Try clicking actual terrain in the hex whenever you can.
