Ok seems like this should work...

So, when I launch CMO, after launcher, it creates a process in memory but after that it terminates. No GUI is visible.

Before latest Windows update, it was working perfectly.

For CMANO, after launcher, the sequence is this:

1. Launcher
2. Image of surface vessel firing a mistake with white smoke.
3. Image still stays, with the errors as follows:
4. OnThreadException
5. theEx != null
6. e.Exception.GetType().Name: FileNotFoundException
7. theEx message: Could not load file or assembly 'WindowsFormsIntegration, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of it's dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

8. theEx.StackTrace: at Command. MainForm.() at Command. MainForm..ctor()
9. OnThreadException
10. theEx != null
11. e.Exception.GetType().Name: InvalidOperationException
12. theEx.Message: An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Could not load file or assembly 'WindowsFormsIntegration, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of it's dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
13. theEx.StackTrace: at .(T)
at .()
at ..OnCreateMainForm()
at Microsoft.Visual basic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.OnRun()
at
Microsoft.Visual basic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.Do.ApplicationModel()
14. theEx.InnerException.GetType().Name: FileNotFoundException

After that, the image is gone and I'm returned back to the launcher.

Steps took for both CMANO and CMO:

- Uninstall and reinstall
- Verify integrity
- Verify administrator privileges
- NET 4.8 installed by Windows update
- All folder permissions by default
- All services by default
- No antivirus interference
- All visual basic redistributables installed
- Java latest installed
- Windows update latest installed.
All other games and programs working no problem.

Do you have Net 4.0 installed? That is what both CMs use.
It is reporting some file is missing by the looks of it.

I have 4.8 and 3.5 installed.

To me, looks like all of a sudden it cannot read assembly from the system.

Maybe if both can be fooled to read assembly files from CMANO/CMO installation directory that would be great, or maybe make it even part of the sim....

Can you do a search of your drive and see if you can find the DLL 'WindowsFormsIntegration.dll'.
It is a component of .Net, and not part of CMO.

It sounds like the last windows update has done something.

There is a Steam redist file for DotNet4
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DotNet\4.0\dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe

You could try running that to see if it corrects the 'missing files'.

I run it and got this:

Details

Microsoft NET Framework 4 is already a part of this operating system. You do not need to install the NET Framework 4 redistributable.

Same or higher version of NET Framework 4 has already been installed on this computer.

Okay, at this point I think you need to do a system scan to check your window file integrity as these are the files that it says it can't access.

I'm at a loss as to what is missing as this is a core windows library from dotNet based on searches on the Net.

I know. Maybe after upgrade from 4.7.2 to 4.8 it stopped working.

If both CMANO/CMO could be manipulated to read those dependencies from game root folder instead of a system and make it part of installation procedure (downloaded as part of steam), that would probably solve my (and probably future) problems... But it's up to the devs. At this point, both of them with all dlc's I simply cannot play anymore....

The issue is resolved, both are working.

But to understand why it happened, I might need to be more detailed, in case someone else has the problem, to look for solutions.

As mentioned, the problem occurred after latest Windows update. Everything looked ok (no errors displayed). But I noticed my wallpaper suddenly missing. I thought nothing of it, until I noticed my The Sims 3 to be gone gone. It just went poof. But I ignored that as well, even though I considered it a high risk anomaly. It shouldn't have happened.

Now, I went for the usual by-the-book procedure. Chkdsk, Sfc and DISM. All ok.
Still the games wouldn't work.
Then went for restoration of default Windows services. Still same problem. Then went for default registry permissions. Still problem. After that restored default ntfs permissions for all files. Still same problem. Then did group policy restoration. Still same problem.

After a while, I saw an article about latest Windows update bricking computers, deleting files, removing wallpaper and causing BSOD. Assuming that happened to me, I went with nuclear option (reset this PC and remove all files). The only change I had before nuking was to turn off Windows defender/security.

So, from inside Windows I nuke it, I boot into fresh Windows 10, update it no problem but I noticed that Windows defender/security was still disabled. Assuming Windows 10 image to be corrupted even though DISM reported everything to be ok, I had Windows 10 on my USB and nuked it one more time.
Using PatchMyPc I reinstalled most of my programs, so after I installed Steam I started downloading cca 600GB worth of games.

When finished both CMANO and CMO with all dlc and workshop, I tested bothand now everything is ok. Praying Mantis with CMANO and No time for Mischief 1995 for CMO.

Question 1: Where to find Game Speed button in CMO game panel? (I know about game option in Game>Game Options)?
Question 2: Any possibility to bring CMANO speed optimizations in CMO (pulsed mode etc? Sim is heavy on "it belongs in a museum" hardware)?
3: I work on cruise ships for 7+months per contract. Can we have All database images/descriptions downloadable as part of workshop with all maps divided by Continental theatre (North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa) and by oceans? I sometimes love to play on new maps even though 1 second simulations may take me 15 seconds real world time (until I upgrade)....

1. Looks like you found a bug, I've raised a separate ticket for this. Thanks!
2. CMO is heavily optimised for simulation speed compared to CMANO, pulsed mode was removed as a conscious design decision. Feel free to open a feature request or separate tech support thread on this.
3. I've done similar work, I feel your pain. I've forwarded this request on to the relevant people for consideration.

If you have any further questions or issues please start a new thread, once a thread is marked as resolved it's very easy for us to miss any further comments [:)]
