SDL failed (2)

Post by antdan »

Hello
I just purchased the game on the webstore.
When I try to launch the game with latest patch, I have this error message. I already looked into the forum and found that this can be fixed by putting 0 on the sound volume in the SC3.ini file.
The game runs normally except the sound.
The original version of the game (1.00) works fine xith the sound.
How can I play the game with the sound and the latest patch ?

I'm on win1O and a new PC.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Antdan,

Sorry to hear about the trouble.

For the error you reported, some anti virus software likes to report false errors with the game while it is doing its initial scan of the updated executables. For example, I run Avast anti virus, and when I change the executable on my end it will give me that error, but when I launch again the game then works fine. This is just as a result of the AV software doing its thing.

Is it possibly this that is the issue? For example, if you try running the game now after a reboot, and change the sound to a volume you prefer, does it now work?

Hello Hubert

No, I still have the problem and I don't think this is the AV. When I switch the sound to 0 in the exe file it works fine, but when I try to raise the sound volume in the game I have the same message and the game crashes. I can play without the sound but that's not fine to me.

I think this is because I use my TV as a screen and speaker via HDMI cable.

I found a solution by installing the game on an old laptop and there it works fine... I still try to find a solution to play on my PC but I don't know why I have this error.

EDIT : the game works fine with the version 1.00, I only have the error message with the last version (1.17.01)

That is an odd one for sure then, have you tried updating your sound card drivers for your PC to see if that possibly helps?
