Future Shadow Empire Tournaments

Post by koplinsol »

Hi all!

Despite being new here, I have a bit of experience participating and running multiplayer games and tournaments for other games (Battletech and Stellaris the main ones).

I know its still a bit away, but I'm trying to gauge interest/determine the feasibility of tournaments/multiplayer games within the community.

I know it has a built in PBEM function and I'm sure once we figure out the details of how it works, that better understanding can guide us in how we design the events/tournaments.

But ultimately I'd love to use Challonge or something akin to it to set up some type of huge tournament or something of that ilk!

If this sounds good or you have ideas/suggestions, perhaps we can start talking about it now! That way when release day hits, we can also hit the ground running!

Nice idea and would definitely be interested as long as its an easy system like PBEM++ which is idiot proof for numbskulls like me :-)

If it is the oldstyle zip file by email no thanks.

Sounds like fun :) count me in... just have to get my hands on the game (hint hint.. nudge nudge...[:'(] )
A simple file transfer system would be nice (played ATG with a dropbox account, but that's not ideal...)

I'd be interested although I think games of Shadow Empire are going to be very long so it'd depend on game settings and so forth. But I really think this game will shine in multiplayer!

I think Tortuga and Das Tactic are trying out a PBEM game. So lets see how long it will take them :)

Best wishes,

Tortuga and I are about 16 turns in on a very difficult Moon. We are playing from an old version of the game and both have been just trying to get our basic economies established while we box in the AI and deal with Marauders. Each turn is taking between 5 minutes and 10 minutes at present. We decided to play cooperatively against a Hard AI.

We are sharing the files via Discord but it is definitely a PBEM system where we send each other the save file. This isn't overly onerous as the files are small but you do need to navigate to the save file directory yourself.

We are in different time-zones so we are only averaging a turn a day each at present.

We should start uploading the series in a couple of days I think. :)

This is exactly what I was hoping for/figured.

Pop in the file into the directory, boot game up and bam! Have a turn!

I love hearing its about a turn a day. This is exactly what I was hoping for. Maybe games take a bit of time and effort, but the aspect of a long investment with planning and other things going on in between.

Awesome to hear! Can't wait to watch!
