Watch out Larry. Now that you’ve advertised your “killer” first move you might have a hard time finding opponents!!

I do believe some of it goes to the pools but some of it is just gone.

My most efficient Turn one result = OURS 20 / THEIRS 4935 (using only German air units)

My most ruthless Turn one result = OURS 58 / THEIRS 6123 (using all available air units)

During the Soviets move 1, pause the computer moving and pull up the Soviets inventory report and you will see how inaccurate the air briefing report really is. The air briefing report tends to overestimate the enemy losses by as much as 50%. Just guessing, but the actual losses there are probably more in the 2500 - 2700 range. Very good indeed, too. Not downplaying your accomplishment, only reminding that the air briefing report is ALWAYS inaccurate. ALWAYS. I have NEVER seen it report accurately.

Why that has to be, I'm not sure (I suspect that is the way the game provides another layer of "fog of war".) However, for those who wish, there should be a way to force accurate reporting. Perhaps that is accomplished by simply turning Fog of War off, and if that is how one forces accurate numbers into the air briefing report then it should be better explained in the documentation.

Anyway, yes, that is a crushing blow to the Soviet's air assets. I think the best I've gotten is 2200 or so (as reported in the Soviet inventory at the beginning of their turn 1) in a FitE game I think.

only way I find to know exact opponent air losses:
making an airfield attack you can see the % used for the turn.
For example: already 50 losses indicated. You kill 5 more and total losses go to 60.
You can tell that you've got half of indicated losses.
These are only destroyed planes. [:D]

Yes this will work- the results shown in the combat report are accurate but the air briefing always has a multiplier applied to enemy losses, which is set at the beginning of the turn.

It's supposed to represent overreporting of enemy air losses, which has been universal in air combat since the First World War. However as the player is aware of this factor it's of limited utility.
