Transfer of Air Assets from Eastern America

Post by 51st Highland Div »

Is it possible to move Air Assets from Eastern USA to the West of the Map (eg Aden, Abadan, Cape Town etc).
Considering bolstering air assets there but away from game for a few days working so unable to check..

Major ports like Cape Town... yes. In fact, if you set ground troops to strategic mode, you can ship them that way too.

Aden is not directly connected to the USA until 1943 (the date is on the map) so you cannot send the troops directly there. You can send them to CT and move them by ship from there, but your ships are going on-map in between.

Planes can directly transfer from Eastern USA to Cape Town where they there need to load on ships.....ground troops must be loaded on ships in USA and moved via ship.

As far as I remember, the moved air group is listed in the air group arrival screen with 37 day delay, arriving in Cape Town.

Ground troops can also transfer without ships from ECUSA to CT without using ships. Of course they must be unrestricted and in Strat Move mode. It does seem to take a bit longer to transfer without ships, but sometimes it is worth it if your ships are all busy elsewhere.
The game is abstracting shipping from Atlantic convoys that are not represented in the game. The aircraft/troops would have likely transferred a time or two between convoys e.g. an initial convoy down the east coast of NA through the Caribbean to someplace in South America, then another convoy to CT.
