I hate being on the receiving end of bombardments... Hence the maxim: It is better to give than receive.

PI: Clark gets hit by a couple hundred medium bomber sorties.

"Suddenly", the large force at Lingayen is at Iba. One PA regiment escapes South during the night but the other doesn't quite make it and is evicted. We are up against 2 divisions plus tankettes and arty. Oddly, they only manage a 300 adjusted assault value. They must be disrupted somewhat or have crappy morale.

Ground combat at Iba (78,75)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 14596 troops, 147 guns, 265 vehicles, Assault Value = 787

Defending force 1332 troops, 5 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 40

Japanese adjusted assault: 305

Allied adjusted defense: 40

Japanese assault odds: 7 to 1 (fort level 2)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Iba !!!

Apparently those little weevils that get into flour don't like the smell of bay leaves. So leave some loose near such products.

That sounds plausible but why would a weevil jump into a 285 degree pot of molten beef fat. [:D]

With all due respect, I've made dishes with Bay leaves like you describe. Hundreds of times. Never once have I seen one with a weevil in it. Your single experiment (n=1) is insufficient to derive conclusions regarding the presence or absence of weevils in a beef stew sans Bay leaves. Until you repeat this a couple hundred times, the only reasonable conclusion with statistical validity is that Bay leaves keep weevils out of beef stew.

Flour Weevils Facts and 7 ways to Get Rid of Them
2. Place a Dried Bay Leaf in Each Container or Bag

Bay leaves are an excellent remedy against the pests and insects of all kinds. They are an equally great solution against the flour weevil. There is no need to take some bay leaves; a single one can work a great deal. Just place the dry bay leaf in the container or a bag of flour to prevent the weevil growth.

10 Proven Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Weevils Naturally
2. Bay leaf

Bay leaf, also known as neem, has been used as a natural remedy since ancient times to help get rid of many problems. In case you prefer to keep flour in containers instead of in packets, chances are there would be greater contamination of weevils. Just put some bay leaves inside the loose flour to keep away the weevils. You can also put them in your cupboards and closets.

They wouldn't. Everybody knows weevils wobble but they don't fall down.

You are dating your age with that comment! BTW, the ones that don't fall over are spelled 'Weebles'.

I'm not sure Weebles are any geekier than Star Wars.[:D]...or WITP-AE for that matter.

Back in the days when we used to climb into an aluminum cylinder for 4 or 5 hrs and re-breathe the same air with 180 other people we didn't know I would sometimes fire up a WITP-AE turn but I would always check around to see if there were any possible Japanese or Chinese or Fillipinos...you know..in case they look over an see Yokahama get nuked.

I think I missed a day or two. Too much to do.

***********Feb. 23, 1943(e)*********

Kai-elanden hit by a BB bombardment, suffering about 35% runway damage bu no plane losses. Looks like somebody hit a supply building or something.

Vinh hit by a bombardment from Kirishima, doing moderate damage. The Vengeance at Vinh manage to drop a couple of 500 Lbr's on her. Yara sinks an AK unloading at Vinh after drove all the way from Wake.
