That is pretty neat. I had several games from them in the '90s. The game I played the most from them was M1 Tank Platoon II. Loved that game.

Greetings Ostwindflak,
I started with Microprose's Silent Service and Gunship. Played both for many years. Also enjoyed Task Force 1942, Civilization & Pirates.

Looks like a good set of offerings, even if my suspicious self feels a bit put-off by the fact that a game advertised as 'The focus is more on command and top-level strategy, although the battle environments can be rendered in full 3D...' has a teaser consisting solely of 3D footage...

Second Front looks really cheesy. Reminds me of Minecraft. Lots of well done 3d ground games out there anyway so why bother with something that looks like a little kid threw it together. The naval games look ok.

Second Front cheesy? You probably don't like Battle Academy as well.

Second Front is going to be closer to Squad Leader than anything has come so far. And as I am A. an ASL veteran, and B. I've got all the other pretenders to that statement, and C. I've been watching the development of Second Front... I'll be wanting this day one full price.

I'm with MrsWargamer on the view about Second Front. My only gripe is that the soldiers look so burly and macho.

Silent Service II was one of my all time favorites. Watching the Yamato bearing down on me on December 24, 1944 or whatever that scenario was, was pretty damned awesome.

Just a heads up that all three of the developers are pretty active in the grogheads.com forums.

I'm not crazy about Second Front's looks, but the game play sounds good...it will probably be the next wargame I buy.

Well, I have stuuuuuupidly bought a lot of games, that I then never got around to playing (common in our niche isn't it eh).

But, I'm hoping to get this one and play it to death the way I played Steel Panthers in its glory days 2000-20005.

I love SF visual style.

It's going to be a cracker I'm sure.

I kind of understand why people feel the way they do over graphics, for me it's all about gameplay and where historical games are concerned historical accuracy over graphics. Saying this however I do have an issue with the likes of Panzer Korps and the MASSIVE tanks etc. This look really ruins any chance my imagination had, although I also don't enjoy the games mechanics. I do like some semblance of realism when it comes to space\distance etc of a battlefield.

I have a great imagination that I can power up if needs be.

Got Red Dead Redemption 2 the other day and the graphics are jaw dropping plus a decent game it seems, I then played Armoured Commander 2 whose graphics are extremely basic, yet I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed RDR2.

As for Second Front I really like the cartoon look. Love the square jawed troops. I enjoy graphic novels etc so maybe that's why I like the visuals alot. Plus the vehicles look excellent and accurate.

Say one thing, that's one hell of a scoop for SF and Joe signing with a name like Microprose! So happy for him. Soon as Joe showed me SF I knew it would get attention and he was developing something big.

It is true that Second Front looks good but I am wary of new stuff escaped from a lab.

Jo is a long time ASLer and he created HexDraw, I have seen a lot of his work on ASL sites (GameSquad) and its very reminiscent of ASL.

Nothing to do with a lab at all.

What do you mean by that?

Microprose have gone and put their name to it so I'm certain they must have liked what they have seen.

It's feature rich straight away, with many much assked for features in a tactical game.

He has done one hell of a job considering it's only him I believe.

I'm surprised Rico you say this as you've backed and enjoyed wargames that have far less features straight off. Considering you love a particular game which is very close to ASL, then with SF you have ASL but with most things in straight asway. Plus looks cool. You should be all over this.
