Game won't launch

I have the steam version of the game. I can open the game launcher then when I click to play game and a window pops up briefly and then closes and nothing happens. I uninstalled and reinstalled and tried loading from two different hard drives. When looking at the event viewer in windows I see an application error

Usual first suggestion is rename the video folder under the DAT folder and next to your saves folder

I am using windows 10 and have the same problem.

This is how I tried.
1. After renaming the 'video' folder, right-click on the WarInTheEast.exe file in the installation folder.
Successful execution.
However, it is not executed on the second execution.

2. After executing the above method, when the window popped up, the 'esc' key was pressed several times.
Successful execution.

I tried again but it doesn't work .....

What is the problem?
