What is my active Target?

Post by darkhelix »

Once I have designated a target for a unit, is there any way to see which unit is targeted?
I have trouble remembering which unit was assigned to which target in some of the scenarios with, for example, multiple air targets, and it would be a great help to see a visual cue.

One way is to have targeting vectors turned, as the manual states on page 170.

Here is an example in a relatively complex environment. I have target vector and datalinks turned on for selected units. If you turn them on for all units, it can create an unreadable mess in complex battles.

You see the green limes coming out of a large surface group as valid target lines to any enemy unit it can target. You see datalinks coming back from the missiles to the ship. The enemy flights have a small white number in the upper left of the icon. That's the number of missiles targeting enemy unit.

There are a bunch more things you can potentially do, but that's the basic stuff I use. Keep in mind that WRA is extremely important in large scenarios. It lets your units do all the targeting without you having to be too involved until the critical point. It will keep track of targets, salvoes, and engagements for you.

Hi,
I set up the sim so that I can see targeting vectors and selected target but can't get it to work.
It only seems to work with ALL TARGETS selected but then the screen is full of lines, any idea why?

1. You can see in the attached images that I have the F-16 group selected and have ordered them to auto attack the red target but the target is not highlighted with a targeting vector.

2. In the other attached image, when a missile is fired, regardless of targeting vector setting, I can always see the line to the target.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

If easy, can you post a save from that situation? Thanks.

Sorry but I don't know how to do that and have already completed the tutorial that this happened in.
