[RESOLVED] Trouble getting the game to load.

Post by Tashtego »

I finally got around to installing the Matrix version 1.00.11153. When the game started to load I received an error message (conversion from string "error in application_startup" to type 'integer' is not valid. I checked some of the threads for this error, and decided to install the latest update, 1.01.11143 to see if would clear up.

This time when the game started to load, I received the error message (error found during beta application startup. Error details: object reference not set to an instance of an object.) I checked the threads for this and found some info of people having this message with saved games.

Any help would be appreciated. Mike

So I re-installed v1.00.11153 and had the same issue. I am using Windows 7.

Let's go through the checklist:

* Is the OS fully updated? Graphics drivers updated? Direct-X 9 installed?
* Is Command running as admin? (ie. prompting you "are you sure you want to run this program" when you launch it)
* Are all other applications (and especially hardware-helper apps like MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner etc.) shut down?
* Are you using Norton antivirus? (This POS is very frequently silently blocking file updates)
* Are you running in 100% DPI or high-DPI desktop?

Just on a hunch, can you temporarily set your desktop DPI to 100% and give it a go?

Quick up date. I WASN'T running it in administrator mode after all. So, just now I did, and it launched fine. Thank you for your help. You guys are the best. Mike.
