From 1992, a RAND report theorizing about basing and force requirements for possible wars, including a bizarre joint Iraqi-Syrian invasion of Turkey. The air wing/CVBG requirements make for good scenario reference.

Good read, need to get into it deeper. Would be interesting to track the assumptions and actuals over time and compare to this paper.

Interesting to see how rapidly the US deployment to Europe through the Limited level into the Symbolic within 15 years
