PO Scenario Recommendations

Post by angel42052 »

Hello Fellow Grognards,

I've been AWOL from TOAW for about a year and want to play against the computer opponent.

What scenarios do you recommend that have an excellent PO (Elmer as I recall)? I prefer medium to monster size scenarios. WW II (I'm not into WW I) and Post WWII.

Thanks,

Stefan

WWII:

D21 (play as Germans, let Elmer play Soviets at intelligence="STRONG" and plus 2 "Cheat" for Elmer is what I recommend for that one)
Russo-German War 1941-1945 (play as Soviets and wreck Elmer if you can)

Those two are my favorites for playing against the PO in the WWII era.

Try my Germany 1945 (Last Stand) scenario as the Allies. The Germans will give you a good game.

I know that long time ago Daniel McBride recommended his Operation Mars 3.0 or 2.0 as good Soviet PO scenario. But I don't have it. His take on Bulge operation Plan Martin or something is also very interesting.

If you want to get an idea of what kind of a defensive general Rommel was, try playing Daniel McBride's "El Alamein_2.5" scenario for The Operational Art of War: A Century of Warfare. The scenario is designed to be played against a British computer opponent, and is a fairly realistic depiction of Rommel's situation at the Third Battle of El Alamein. Try making it to 28 turns (14 days) as he did; it's tough.
