Bug with map loading (embedded image)

Post by cathar1244 »

Latest version of TOAW IV (40)

Found this loading .mml maps in the map editor. Apparently once a map is loaded, the map editor does not clear the existing map or resize the displayed map when another map is loaded. Attached image shows this with two of JosAnt's maps. A map of Georgia is overlain on a map of Crimea.

Cheers

Yeah, it's not only in the editor. Just going out of a game, you will notice the map is actually still loaded in the background, you can see it behind the menus. And ever tried to close a game during the AI turn? [8|]

Something is definitely up with how the game clears memory after UI changes. Wouldn't surprise me if the old map still takes up memory in the background, so if you're doing a lot of loading maps you'd end up with a OOM crash.

After I have edited a scenario and I want to edit another one I find that it helps to choose menu item "new scenario" before you load the new scenario.

Loading of .mml map files without erasing everything was actually meant as a feature. There is an x,y offset which shifts where the map is loaded to.

Ralph,

I didn't know that. Thank you for the clarification.
