28IMB at Tinian is feeling the effects of the American assaults. The cessation of assaults was a welcome relief.

Just the sort of surface action any Japanese Admiral would wish for. I liked the way this action broiled on across 3 hexes. The follow up will unfold but beware the Allied surface warships. They are out there... somewhere.ORIGINAL: RangerJoe

Supersized Jake units on Low Nav would have a field day with that task force. So would torpedo bombers on Low Nav with bombs.

RE: 29 August 1943 Night Time Part 1
No doubt they would. With the loss of Guam, however, my priority is to pack my airfields with as many land based fighters as I can muster. I expect the Guam airfield to be up and running super quick and Pagan looks to be joining the Allied side very soon too. Tinian, itself, is by no means a safe bet. Given the current situation and general lack of Allied aerial strike capability I was happy to let my SAG groups roam. The caveat being that sufficient naval forces need to stay in reserve to counter any further efforts to make inroads on Tinian and Saipan.ORIGINAL: RangerJoe

Jakes are float planes . . .
Set them to 1,000 feet and they might just fly under the CAP.

Too true about float planes. I'm currently a good six weeks behind the action with my AAR so we won't be seeing Jake raids making any impact on the battles. If I did have a bunch float planes extra on the islands I would be employing them for night time search and possibly day time search in all probability. Given the ever increasing accuracy of Allied AA I doubt I would use Jakes in a low bombing role. Not saying I wouldn't ever but it is an order I don't think I would ordinarily issue. The other thing is the random nature of where any such Jake planes would strike... wait until you see the board at the end of days play. There are TFs all over. There is every possibility they would make a bee line for carrier, battleship or cruiser TFs and be duly chewed up.

I hope to make my Allied player suffer as much as you have when he tries to land in the Marianas.

I consider myself to be fortunate to have pulled this off. Having KB so close to the Marianas when the Allied Fleets turned up was crucial. There is still more to come.ORIGINAL: Bif1961
