S/O 39 Axis 5

No DoW.

Germany allows Bulgarian and Hungarian claims.

No alignments.

All go for combined.

Germany sends NAV to Baltic 3-box.

Japan sails Yamamoto and a MAR from Japan to Canton. INF, MAR and ENG (using a CA) sail from Japan to Hainan.

Italy puts a CP in West Med.

Scharnhorst plus two heavy cruisers sail to Baltic 4-box.

In Kriegsmarine HQ, the Duty Admiral, wishing to prolong his weekend off, sets up his call divert using the newly installed speed dial facility. The Italian acting junior naval attache 3rd class, otherwise known as The Janitor (it is the weekend after all), is somewhat surprised to receive a call from the Scharnhorst flotilla reporting it on station and asking for the Admiral's permission to seek and engage engage a French cruiser reported to be at large and loitering with intent.

With a not too great understanding of German, the attache replies "Admiral, si, si", resulting in Admiral Hipper being dispatched to seek out said cruiser.

The two ships stumble into each other (searches: Axis 1, Allies 3). The Hipper opens fire first, causing some minor damage. Spotting more smoke on the horizon, which can only mean further German ships, the French turn tail and put into the Danish port of Aarhus, still in Allied hands (2 points of surprise were used to give 2D, A but the first D rolled a 10. An A on the Hipper rolled an 8).

The Italians move an INF from La Spezia to east of Nice and the MECH from Bardia to Tobruk.

The Japanese move the three units in Hainan to mainland China.

Back to the Germans.

Land Movement:
Germany

The Germans use 5 points to move deeper into Poland (to set up an attack south of Warsaw - an INF Corps takes Krakow on the way) and the sixth to try and overrun Duguy Trouin. The French cruiser attempts to flee (a 9 is thrown) but runs into a newly laid minefield in the Kattegat.

Two attacks are announced. The Germans clear up the remaining Polish resistance outside the capital. The Italians run up a kitchen sink shortage as they throw everything they can at Nice. One heck of a punt, especially after the last effort but who knows ... Do the French wish Assault or Blitz?

The attack in Poland is automatic. The INF and MOT occupy the captured hex.

Two Japanese fighters rebase from Soochow to Canton and NW of Canton.

No reorgs.

Back to the Allies.
