Koblenz '44 for IV

Post by sPzAbt653 »

Update to a scenario designed with TOAW III. It was included in the release of IV but it had never been played with it.

There was a thread from back when it was first released and it contained a bit of an AAR, starting at Post #26 here:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.a ... enz

I'll update the rest of that thread here, but not the AAR.

A hypothetical scenario that moves Operation Market-Garden from Arnhem to Koblenz. It's been tested with IV and everything seems ok.

Here's a shot of part of the front line, 5th Armored Division has been pressing toward Bitburg, 1st Infantry Division [only the recon element is seen in this shot] has just arrived and is ready to break thru. 2nd Armored Division is on the road (off shot) behind the 1st Infantry ready to exploit.

Here's the target, Koblenz and its bridges over the Rhine and Mosel rivers. Several nice landing areas for the paras/gliders, and intelligence reports the area is only lightly defended, by a few old men and young boys [;)]

Center - since the US 5th Armored Division moved thru the undefended Wallendorf area on the 13th of September, it has been pushing to the north and northeast in order to expand the bridgehead. The US 1st Infantry Division (motorised) and 2nd Armored Divisions have just arrived. The 5th AD will attempt to break thru the German line with the assistance of the 1st Inf, and this will allow the 2nd AD to race up the road to Koblenz.
