Pilot training/ my game not matching examples.

Post by Mooshh »

Hello all,

So with all the time I have had off I started a campaign as the allies, I have been trolling the boards and searching and finding most of my answers.
However pilot training, moving pilots, replacement pool access seem to be something I cannot figure out with the search alone.

In the newbie help videos, his selection screen is nothing like mine. right or left clicking do nothing for me, I have squads with 30 extra pilots that are good and cannot figure out how to move them around.

what more do I need to give you all to maybe help me out?

Help anyone!
thanks

When you click on a squadron , at the bottom left go to Pilots tab , in that tab switch To Pool: from Group to Reserve Image and then click one of the release pilot buttons ranging from 1,5,10 options.
Now you got pilots in reserve pool and you want those pilots on frontline squadrons ? Go back to squadron page Image you see that green Any button ? Switch that to reserve and it will pull the trained pilots from reserve pool

See this (fairly) recent thread, especially the first few posts: Example of US fighter training and how to use it.

I'm starting to think it is a resolution issue since you guys clearly have those options but i do not,

I have tried to add a screen shot but can manage to do that either.....

You need to update your game, you are running the initial release version.

Save your current game. Close out.
Once you download and install the patch 1126a or the Beta patch 1126b, start the game and load your saved turn.
You will get a message saying something like "Database has changed. Load anyway (Y/N). Just choose Y and everything should work OK. You will find the interface much better, with more info on mouse rollovers and other screens.

EDIT: forgot to mention - you may need to reset the switches in your shortcuts. 1125a does not provide a direct shortcut to the game executable file - you have to create it yourself by right clicking on the game file and choosing "create shortcut". Drag the shortcut to the desktop and add switches.
The Beta 1126b does install its own shortcut on your desktop so you just have to add your switches.

Those pilots need to train. I wonder how a pilot with a 43 experience rating and a 22 air skill actually managed to shoot down an enemy aircraft. I bet that pilots wonders just how he did that as well.

The unit leader sucks, with an air skill of 44 and mediocre leadership. Fighter squadron commanders need very high air skill 65+ and high aggression 60+, with good stats in Leadership and Inspiration.

The CAP altitude is much too high for that aircraft to be effective. Check the aircraft data screen for the way the maneuver rating drops off after 15,000 feet.

And the CAP range of 5 means you are scattering the 21 planes over a circle 200 nautical miles in radius. That's 125,600 square nautical miles. The chances any pilot will even see the enemy are very tiny.

Also the good Bronson with 2 kills and air rating of 41 will have some stories to tell his grandchildren after the war...

Not if he see any Jap Zeros. Oh wait, he may not see them when they get behind him and shoot him down.
