Invading a cold hex shouldn't be possible?

Post by magic87966 »

A German unit just invaded Canada on 4/27/42. The area is Arctic with snow possible in April. From the rules: "Cold is defined as any month in which snow or blizzard is possible. Cold turns do not allow invasions to occur in any weather." How is this possible? Using version 1.06.

It sounds to me as if you are correct. I don't recall whether v1.07 specifically fixed any of that.

Might be a missed weather assignment to the hex. What hex was it?

I think it was 26,34. I sent you a file. Thank you!

A "missing weather assignment to the hex" makes is sound a bit like those one of Star Trek episodes where the volcanic planet has one inexplicable green spot on it, with breathable atmosphere even. :)

It was in a sea zone that didn't have a cold area at that time of the year.

It isn't an important invasion anyways and easily destroyed. There is no real strategic value in it.

Agreed. Just a nuisance raid.

Are the beach hexes on the map part of the adjacent Sea Zone as far as weather characteristics?

The sea zones have different weather systems than land in most cases. The big issue is beaches. In WarPlan 2 there will be no beaches. Units will invade on top of the coastal land hex PERIOD!

Awesome. I would recommend in Warplan2 the ability to toggle whether invasion is possible in a hex in the editor. I think at the scale of the game, less hexes that can be invaded will have a big impact.
